i mean they could stamp their seal of approval on a 3rd party computer manufacturers pc and collect a sweet comission but I would probably have alot of concerns about their journalistic integrity if they move from reviewing pc's to selling them.

yeah I remember the derbaur kit was the bees knees back in the day I wonder if I can pick up a used one somewhere, now that intel switched back to soldering people might be selling.

    Lol I know right?

But to be honest I don't really feel like it's actually feeling slower. I want to upgrade just...because.

Even in the more CPU heavy games I play it hasn't really bogged me down. I've had this delidded under liquid metal since early 2018, and it's been pretty much a champ since.

I ordered the 5800x on impulse thanks to a notification, and then I figured I needed a new cooler...so I picked up the Assassin III. I was going to just save it for the 5800x...but I thought I'd throw it on my 8700k until it gets here and see what happens.

And....here I am. Getting more thermal headroom and wanting to push it more LOL. At this point I think I may end up just returning the 5800x.

the 5700xt is in the same ballpark as a 3060ti - the above video benchmarks and compares alot of mid range graphics cards against the 3060ti - especially the 5700xt.

I would give it a watch and see what you think - its pretty difficult to get a 3060ti right now due to stock issues

edit: you know the other thing that noone mentions is that Nvidia cards have much better driver and game support than AMD cards and are supported with updates for longer periods of time and have better software like geforce experience etc - something to consider

    couple things

    1. obligatory - pick a better PSU from tier B or above use the psu tier list

    2. Can this system run Warzone at 120-144fps consistently?  at 1080 and if you monkey with the settings a bit - yes definitely

    3. Is this an appropriate price for what I've built? seems a bit expensive to me at $1670 CAD and $1300USD
I would wait and get a 3060ti or 3070 instead of the 5600xt - the new models are similar price point and much better

    4. Will this equal/outperform the PS5/XSX? yes it should

The pc industry has had soo many scandals involving consumers getting taken advantage off from absurd ram prices to a gpu market that was already insanely expensive; this is another incident and people with a voice need to speak out about it and reputations should be tarred over it(extreme example but not unlike volkswagen and the emissions scandal).

See, that's the problem. Instead of moving the threads you get stuff like this. I was enjoying the conversation that my thread sparked about SFF builds, but instead I got this.

    100% agree.
I just hate seeing a cool topic, someone showing something off, etc. and then seeing it get shut down because it's a "status update".
This is something I have been seeing for years on this forum, but I have a hard time putting into words how I feel about it.

The worst thing about the whole "locking things" is that the posts are not remove; meaning the forum gets tainted with a whole bunch of locked threads which serve no purpose, other than taunting its users with the feeling of "this thread doesn't belong, but it's here.. but I can't comment on it".

These lock messages often feel very cold (figuratively), which to new users is not a welcoming idea.

AntiTrust reacted to Dravinian in Why are Mods making this forum Ask Jeeves?
This forum isn't so much a community of people who are together to have a laugh, chew the fat, feel like a part of something...but more a place where you can ask and answer questions, and read some tech news.

Everything else is apparently a Status Update, which I doubt many people actually read, I am sure I will be contradicted there before the Mods shut this post too, but I haven't read any updates in the months I have been here and I doubt I ever would...why would you read what one person has to say, on a forum that is designed to engage the whole community?  That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Why is this place becoming Stack Overflow rather than a place where people in a community can come together to talk about stuff and have a laugh? - as long as there is some connection to technology, the fundamental base of the community.  If it isn't offensive, if it isn't divisive, then why isn't it allowed as long as it doesn't break the rules?

That is the point of a forum, to foster a community.  It isn't meant to be a question and answer place and a news site, there are places for that.

If it isn't a community, then I for one, don't really see any point to it.  It seems like a lot of effort spent on not creating something.

AntiTrust reacted to Nayr438 in Stupid microsoft parental controls
If it checks against the system time, then no there isn't anything you can do about it. You don't need Admin rights to change the time. You would need parental software that checks against a server time instead.
Microsoft's implementation actually isn't that great and can be bypassed fairly easily, just google "Microsoft Parental Controls Bypass". It's been plagued with issues since its implementation. If you look hard enough, you will even find MVP's on Microsoft's Forums telling children how to disable it.
