Sounds like your PSU isn't strong enough. Cause in LTT's video they talked about some huge power spikes with the 30 series cards.

not even the half of it. prepare your butts for after it's over and the forum gets flooded with people who didn't win saying it's unfair, or asking when the next one is.

He did once mention on WAN show working with someone on a big deal, purchasing something.
From what I remember, he talked about that while discussing the trade tax into USA, when I think he mentioned talking to someone how much it would cost to import graphics card into Canada and then export to the US. Maybe that is related.
Let's hope they never abbreviate this term.

    OK, My Toshiba Tecra M7
Bought it years ago on eBay from Brazil
I can't show it working at the moment as it fails to turn on without a drive in it
Fitted a 'close enough' US layout keyboard I'm in the UK
Wanted to run 64-bit programs on it so i swapped out the 32-bit Centrino for a 64-Bit (intel 64) Core 2 Duo T7600 and 4GB of Crucial RAM
It'll work when i get round to popping an SSD in it and still has BOTH the pens 😁

first of all look at this pinout diagram

If the fan connector is wired to the 12v side of the plug then the fans will be running at 100%. This will do more of this 'damage' you've been told about than running through the motherboard header.  If they're wired to the 5v side they'll be fine. Are the fans themselves PWM (4 Pin) or Voltage controlled (3 pin)?  If they're 3 pin i wouldn't bother with a new splitter.  4 pin ones I would but i'd only get a 4 pin splitter.  That's only if the motherboard header was 4 pin also.

Yeah I didn't see, only noticed the reply to me I got a notification for.

I think you're correct about it being the board chipset that limits the RAM frequency, but there would be little point in shelling out for a Z490 board to pair with a 10400F just to get more RAM speed. Like I said, building a system around the RAM you want to use doesn't make much sense.

@AmateurHermitif you got a good deal on the RAM (although I'm sort of afraid to ask) I wouldn't worry about it much.

only Z490 boards will let you clock your ram to 3200.  There are rumours of B class boards that will let you do this next gen but i suspect that will be locked to the 11th gen CPUs too.

    he already said and 10400F

No hard drive.  Double density floppies.  Processor speed is another one. Mine was 4.0mhz not ghz, MHz.  Not 4.66, 4.0 thing was slower than the original.  Sanyo mbc555
