Holy crap that is one hell of a hot chip. Even with an all core boost this is insane. It just goes to show how far intel has been able to push things on their 14nm process. I think they may be coming to a near end of what is even possible. God, I cannot imagine the power draw of this monster either.

It has been a long coming. The entire situation with the 737 Max 8 has been one crazy, messy path. Between oversite, politics, omissions and more that led up to the 2 plane crashes, it is good to see at least something come out of it. Though, I do feel $2.5 Billion just isn't enough. Too many people died due to those in charge being blinded by deadlines, money and just ignoring safety concerns.

Pickles von Brine reacted to Shepanator in EU "Right to Repair" legislation to go into force from March
Starting in March most household appliances sold in Europe will have to comply to new rules making them easy to repair with basic tools. As well as this manufacturers will be required to provide spare parts within 15 days and make repair manuals available to independent specialists. Notably smartphones, tablets and laptops are not yet included, but (desktop) computers, game consoles, and most types of household appliance are covered by the laws.

I think this is fantastic news, and the legislation that covers smartphones & laptops as well can't come soon enough. I wonder if appliance manufacturers will start making spare parts available world-wide or only in the EU market, If they choose not to then a grey-market of spare parts trading will probably spring up, with Europeans shipping spare parts to other parts of the world. I'm particularly interested to see how Apple responds to this, their iMacs are notoriously difficult to repair and would require some considerable work to make them compliant with the new European laws.

It is good to see something positive coming for the workers at Google. There have been a lot of issues coming out from Google with various scandals, how they have treated employees and even went after some when unionizing came up. Hopefully this is for the better and provides a turning point in the culture at google. Honestly, it has been a long time coming.

Okay. I clickbaited a bit. The "good" thing here is the fact the attack requires a bit of work and pretty much a nation-state actor.  It is really nuts when you think about "Who in the heck figures this shit out?". And if someone did do it, it would be something out of a james bond movie. Rather wild.

You have the huge fines, but those who were involved in the mess have likely lost their jobs. It is just too bad those directly involved didn't have charges brought directly against them. The ones who ultimately made the final decision should be in jail just like the one who helped try and cover it up or push things by the FAA.

Pickles von Brine got a reaction from sub68 in Why are the LMG channels losing their identity?
Each channel has their purpose. They have their identity. Though as Linus has said in some of his community videos and on the wan show, they are sometimes torn as to where to put certain content. IE, the Mario cart thing. They were unsure if it belonged on ShortCircuit or LTT.

At some point in the past and I think it was on a wan show, Linus did talk about what the purpose of each channel was. What they serve as and why. He does a pretty good job adhering to that. There is a reason why ShortCircuit exists, TechLinked, TechQuickie, etc. LMG clips does a nice job breaking down the wan show as well.
