Looks great! I'm glad the GPU space is getting exciting again. I just wish you could buy it, but a 2 day wait isn't bad. I'd argue it's better this way so you know exactly what you're getting. It also seems like they're trying to get ahead of the RX 6000 announcement. Also - 3060 Ti specs on igor's Lab? Is that internally confirmed?

ONOTech reacted to Spotty in Stadia Creative Director Triggers Uproar on Twitter
Not going to happen. Games are paying streamers to play their games. Popular streamers are effectively giving an 8 hour ad fort the game in front of 10s of thousands of current viewers. If a developer came out and said that if you want to stream their game you'll need to pay them a fee the streamers would just play something else and the game would get very little coverage on game streaming platforms, not to mention the bad PR. No developer is stupid enough to be the first to do that.

Game developers could be smart about streaming though and build in to their game mechanics for streamers to utilise to generate money, which the developers could take a cut from with partnership with popular streaming platforms (Twitch). Look at what Borderlands 3 did with "echocast" where viewers can pay to trigger events in game such as giving rewards or spawning enemies.

Developers should embrace streaming. Not tax it.

I mean in a sense they are paying the game developers in a way that is far more effective than just money.

If it weren't for streaming, games like Among Us, Fortnite, PUBG, and pretty much any other game that has been a major phenomenon over the past few years would be unheard of. Game streaming is extremely lucrative for devs as its basically free advertising

I'm surprised there aren't more people with this take. Why would NVIDIA sandbag such a hyped product? It's clearly hurting them and now people who wouldn't even consider AMD have cancelled their RTX 3080 and 3090 orders.

A manufacturing issues makes more sense than the tin-foil hat alternative IMO. But maybe I'm being naive haha

Any release of Intel GPU will be exciting for me. Because no matter how bad it is, it will find its place on the market and meddle with competition. And that's always good. And eventually they'll get things somewhere, that's for sure.

It doesn't seem deliberate. Nvidia doesn't profit from a shortage of supply, they profit from getting as many cards out there as they can sell. My theory is they set the launch date, very hard to move once money has been spent and certain people have it in their diary, and then manufacturing didn't go as smoothly as hoped.

Also, regardless of the reason it's good news for AMD, so I really don't think it was deliberate.

    This isn't an issue.

It's an outright fraudulent launch.  You cannot consider 106 of 4000 units (2.65%) fulfillment rate an "issue".  They outright lied about this and catfished the hype.

Do me a favor, get married and fulfil 2.65% of your wife's needs.

Let me know how that goes.

I personally disagree. DLSS' biggest limitation is that it's not universally supported and Papa Nvidia has to bless your game with AI training to enable it. It's not like an API where the developers can just choose to incorporate it at will. There are less than 20 games that currently support it and only about 25 more with future support announced.

I think it would be fair if it was universally available, but Nvidia gets to cherry pick the titles it supports with AI training. So to compare only DLSS-enabled titles and say the 3080 is the best card because it's faster in ~50 out of thousands of PC titles is kind of silly. Pure raster vs pure raster is an objective standard.

This is the same thing we saw with S3 and the MeTaL API 20 years ago, it blew the doors off 3dfx/ATi/Nvidia in the small number of titles where it was supported but was objectively inferior elsewhere. Times have changed in a lot of ways but back then consistent performance with no tricks ultimately won out.
