for z420 for 200 pound i can get1 with a e5 1620, the cheapest mb from 1 of thosers are 150 pounds
-
I found 1 with 2 x5550 36gb ram and duel psus. for 100 quid
-
I mean all ideas are open.
-
I've got a oced r5 3600 and scythe and corsair fans. The point I have is getting a crappy server and throwing it in another room seams a lot more attractive as i get to use the whole pc and off load the crap to a box I don't care about, it's not like a crap server can't handle it, and its not like I cant put up with the background tasks. It's more of a set and forgot kind of thing do at last I can tune my overclocks not care about restarting, being fine with gpu crashes. It's theses little things.
-
Its not that my pc won't handle it it's that it begining to get annoying, game performance is not the best, ram usage is high, and I suspect sleeping in a room with thoses fans on isn't improving my sleep
-
I don't mind, if it was loud I would slap some air-coolers on it and some heatsinks on the vrms
-
Il throw in something like a gtx 770 or something for cuda, and 32gb of ram,
-
Rendering 1080p resolve, an archive backup, webserver for Minecraft and coding projects, loading up vms for testing code and collecting data and limits of my code.
-
Alright, I should probably mention the reason I'm going for a server, my computer is on 24/7 with weekly restarts and munches on ram, and performance tanks when trying to playing demanding games and streaming, with all the extra crap open.
-
Alright il take a look
-
The idea was being get a cheap 8+ core server and hotrod it, the reason Im not going to rent 1 it that 1 it's not fun 2 having it local can help with the many things I am doing
-

I wouldn't say so -

games and 3d application might not use 100% of the gpu expecally with modern gpus -
I am looking for a server to run all the time with basically no down time, I am looking to do rendering on it, running vms on it, running webserves, storage backups, potato simulation, I am looking to spend hopefully less than 200 pounds.

Broke pin on motherboard in the audio interface.

alright, i think it might be something that is useless.
