Can we get a tl;dr? I read the first paragraph, skimmed the rest and have no clue what you are talking about.

EDIT: I just read it all, still no clue wtf you are rambling about.

Just because something exists a certain way doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. The whole configurable TDP thing in CPU’s is super anti-consumer and we shouldn’t be greeting the same change for GPU’s with open arms.

AMD laptops were cheaper, I don’t think Intel really had a compelling low tier product back then.

    Summary
Polish tech site purepc.pl is claiming that Intel and NVIDIA had an exclusive agreement to only provide RTX 2070 or greater mobile GPU's in laptops with Intel 10th generation CPU's. I have not seen reports of this elsewhere and purepc has not provided a source other than saying an OEM confirmed this to be the case, so take this with a grain of salt for now. But it would make sense as to why we never saw an RTX 2070/2080 with a Ryzen 4000 mobile CPU.

If true this is very dodgy on Intel and NVIDIA's part. We already know that AMD 5000 series mobile chips will be combined with up to RTX 3080's, this is in spite of the new chips also having the same "limitation" that has been quoted as being the reason why the 4000 series was limited to RTX 2060 or less.

Note: I added a rumour tag as this hasn't been verified anywhere else.

    UPDATE:
"Nvidia's Northern Europe PR Manager Lianne Hunter reached out with the company's official position regarding the allegations: “The claim is not true. OEMs decide on their system configurations, selecting GPU and then CPU to pair with it. We support both Intel and AMD across our product stack.”"

schwellmo92 reacted to Mark Kaine in 3090 with a 660w platinum psu
personally I wouldn't risk it, and no one can guarantee you it'll work and not damage anything either. so I can only tell you, no, this is much too little wattage and do it on your own risk of you then have to.

If your PSU ran your 3080 it'll run the 3090.

That is a mighty poor value upgrade you have there though going from a 3080 to a 3090.

Your power supply has enough power the only thing that would concern me is it is low quality. If you are going to buy a 3070 you should probably consider getting a better power supply, even if it is the same wattage.

schwellmo92 got a reaction from BTGbullseye in WHY my gpu keeps overheating?
There’s not really an easy way to check it unfortunately. Do any of the heat pipes have damage/cracks/holes? Maybe the liquid escaped from them.

Willow Cove is only marginally better than Sunny Cove in IPC (low single digits). Regardless of whether this desktop CPU uses Sunny Cove or Willow Cove, if it can get 5GHz+ it will be a monster.

FX-9590, that was because it was a dog shit architecture. This will be using WIllow Cove cores which have 15-20% more IPC than Skylake cores.
