Nvidia sell to scalper and they don't care.
Psybadek replied to Soda Popinsky's topic in General Discussion
It sucks, but I just wait till I can buy it at retail. I don't need anything right away like GPU, CPU, Consoles ect. I can wait out the scalpers and find it for MSRP. Illegal though? For non essential items I disagree. -
Does you daughter want to learn about PC components? If she doesn't even want to learn about it why try and get her to do it? Otherwise just teach her what you know and what you don't you have youtube/magazines/books. It really depends on how she will learn best. Maybe buy a cheap pc, take it apart, let her put it back together with your instructions

How far would you drive for a used PC component?
Psybadek replied to nathanyule's topic in General Discussion
I would walk 500 miles -
Depending on the mobo you can always try using a ps/2 mouse to get through the install or different USB mouse. You can also try like an all in one keyboard mouse combo or can you tab in the menu on your keyboard to get to the different selections? Also you can check some settings in BIOS as well EHCI/USB 2.0 hand-off = Disabled XHCI/USB 3.0 hand-off = Enabled Legacy USB = Disabled EHCI Pre-Boot Driver = Disabled XHCI Pre-Boot Driver = Disabled Also make sure USB2 support is enabled, if the option exists: EHCI/US

If you're getting a 3080 why get a low budget board? Go for an X570 board to take advantage of PCI 4 and a Ryzen 7 CPU
-
That doesn't mean they don't. I've seen fans die before
-
Why not? Get a better PSU. You want to have a bit more headroom. 550 is enough sure, but if you want to add more later on better to have the headroom. Plus the PSU he selected isn't great. Better to get a quality PSU
-
Honestly, get a better PSU, CPU, MB. I wouldn't get anything less than 750w 80+ Gold. You've also got such a low budget CPU pairing with a GPU. I'd get no less than an R6 3600x but would recommend at least a R7 3700x. MB I'd get an x570 board. I'd save another $500 to get better parts.

New computer, troubleshooting ethernet and wifi
Psybadek replied to SuperCoolTaiwan's topic in Networking
If you're using wired, can you ping back to your modem? Even without internet you should be able to ping your modem -
Buy it on Amazon, and just be honest on the return.
-
No they do not. The cable will be supplied with the power supply itself. You may get a 6 pin to molex but they don't always come with it. One of those that will depend on make and model
-
Maybe. It depends on which make and model. Best way is to look them up and check descriptions
-
Almost 5 grand is just 1 monitor and 1 GPU.

Wired connection caps out at 100mbps with a 1gig router

Sure it's overkill, but it's also future proofing. It's also why i said if he had the budget too
