Spent two days wondering why my Hyperflex cluster couldn't get to the CIMC port. Completely forgot the basics of OOB management for servers, lol.

I was trying to access them over the server management port, forgot that it uses the Fabric Interconnect management port instead for access.

Had to buy a whole new 10GbE NIC because Asus pulled a stupid.

The Strix x299-E Gaming has two x4 slots but instead of making the upper x4 slot wired to x4 and the bottom wired at x1 speeds they decided to do the opposite. I've been wondering why my P900 drive has been so slow and after checking the manual again I realized why. So I had to buy a 1x 10GbE x4 NIC so I could swap out my 2x 10GbE x8 NIC and put the P900 in the bottom x16 slot since dual GPU's prevent the bottom x4 slot from being usable. *sigh*

    DID YOU KNOW!
Every time you boot your computer, a thing called a "short circuit" happens. These can be very dangerous, and even burn out your computer! But I have a way to solve it. Open up your computer, look down to the bottom and find the cable marked "PWR_SW, or POWER_SW", and unplug it from the pins!

Today is the 5th Anniversary of this forum. A lot has changed since we first launched.

The first version of the forum, in January 2013, was running a beta version of VBulliten out of a server in the corner of NCIX. The admin team (which didn't include me) had a lot of trouble dealing with lost posts and was generally very buggy. Unfortunately the Wayback machine doesn't appear to have captured the CSS from that version.

In April 2013, the site switched to using IP.Board, to the great relief of everyone. To begin with, it just used the default theme, complete with the old LTT logo

Later that year, the first versions of the day and night themes were released by @Cat :^)

In January 2015, the themes were significantly overhauled

After that, there were no major changes until January 2016 (though a lot of work was done in the background to prepare for the update), when we updated to IPS 4, which was a complete rewrite of all the back end code, along with a shiny new server to host it all, and some really clean new themes from Cat

Since then, there have been lots of small updates, and one slightly larger one, bringing us to what we have today

A huge thanks to all the members who have made this a success, the contributors who have helped cover the significant costs of running the site, and all of the moderators who give up their time to keep the site clean and ask for nothing in return.
