Can we have a video on AMD's VCE (Video Coding Engine)? There is literally nothing on this anywhere. People should have reviewed VCE on both Vega 56/64 (VCE 4.0) and Radeon VII (VCE 4.1). If you could do some kind of fun video or even a more serious video on how it compares to Pascal/Turing (especially in streaming) then that would be nice.

MeatFeastMan got a reaction from Tj107 in Gtx 1650 with just 250w
Well they say you need 300w, but Nvidia is playing it very safe here (As they should). This is a video from hardware unboxed showing that at 1440p crysis 3, total system power consumption is at 192w. That is with a 9900k at 5ghz. Think it's safe to say you're not going to be using a 9900k at 5ghz with your 1650. You should be fine. Not to mention these 1650 models are higher power models with the 6 pin connector. Yes other games and applications may be higher than that, but in general it'll be in the same ball park.

Yes, it'll be tight but you should be okay with 250w as long as you're not planning to pair the 1650 with an 18 core monster or something crazy like that. If you're on a dual/quad core as I expect you are you'll be just fine.

Of course. It's good enough. I thought it was amazing until I bought the IE 800 earphones a few weeks ago. The GSP is versatile, it is good enough for music too.

MeatFeastMan got a reaction from libranskeptic in HBM2 VS. GDDR6 VS GDDR5X VS GDDR5
HBM2 and GDDR6 are pretty much even, although HBM2 consumes far less power (That is however cancelled out by AMD's weaker efficiency)

For video editing I'd get Radeon VII if I were you. It's not really a card for gamers, it's more of a gaming/creative hybrid thing. The 16gb hbm2 + HBCC makes it an absolute monster for the price, and beats out the 2080ti in applications where that kind of vram can be used.

HBM2 is probably top dog, but comes at a cost (That's why AMD failed to get the Radeon VII to the $500-600 price range). GDDR6 is closely following it, with GDDR5X and then GDDR5 after that.

Ryzen 5 3600. i5 9400f if for some reason you want to pick something on the intel side (And believe me, you don't). Ryzen 5 2600 if you want something cheap that will last a few more years.

    Isn't just the 4700U either.

And a month or two ago, an AMD document popped up for a few hours showing Ryzen 9 mobile. They took it down pretty quickly. So there could be a 4900H too.

Cheapest 580's apart from this one in the UK are around £140 right now. This one is £125. It's even worse in the US, most 580's are $160 there. This RX 580 is as cheap as any RX 570 in the UK right now.

I had the 1050ti for my FX 9590 build too, only just upgraded a few days ago to 3900x + Radeon VII.

Only reason I bought it was because the cryptocurrency situation ruled out an RX 570 for me at that time.

This ties in with the RRA certification for a big Navi part spotted a few days ago. These are probably still a few months away though. And they are probably RDNA 2.0. At least we're getting something now, Big Navi is starting to pop up every now and then.
