Decent ones indeed do get it right nowadays, but the cheap stuff with mushy chassis still often do get key scratches...

Ashley xD got a reaction from Alex Kovacs in Is it okay to use a paper between the keyboard and screen of laptop?
lap[tops are designed so that the keys won't scratch the display... this shouldn't be neccesary unless the laptop was poorly designed.

i wonder how many of those chrome users are personal users though...

my guess is that all those chromebooks are in schools or workplaces and people are forced to use them. i can't see any other scenario where someone would pick a chromebook over a Windows device or a MacBook.

Ashley xD got a reaction from NareN in Terminals in linux
most common commands like cd and ls all work.

where they differ as others have mentioned is installing packages.

    so instead of:
    sudo dnf install package
    you use:
    sudo apt install package

for apt, or you can use snap like so:
    sudo snap install package

mostly snap installs are automatic on Ubuntu. if for example you were to type: sudo apt install chromium, the system would notice that there is a chromium snap available and install that instead of the apt version.

snaps have advantages and disadvantages. the advantage of snap is security, since the applications are sandboxed from the rest of the OS. the disadvantages are that they are slower to launch and don't use any custom theming you have installed. if you don't want to use snaps, Ubuntu is not the distro for you, since they are basically the default on Ubuntu now.

That's not an answer. Explain what you did to get there.
Boot Camp is what you need to use.

Ashley xD reacted to Kisai in what browser engine is your favourite?
Firefox is awful for SSL sites. Literately vanilla firefox will generate "this program is not responding" on banking sites, while chromium browsers don't do it. My guess is that it's probably a threading problem in the SSL library on firefox. I have no plugins or extensions in firefox. Firefox is otherwise less miserable to use than Chrome and Edge for some privacy-aspects.
