FloRolf reacted to Arika S in Headphone stand passthrough
technically "yes". but in reality, no.
The difference is going to be so negligible that unless the stand has a very very shit usb controller in it, you will never ever be able to tell the difference.

German pieces are nice. I had a Tangente 35 before I got rid of it for the Longines.
Currently still have a Max Bill and a Zeppelin moonphase. Im a big fan of Bauhaus style designs so a Lambda might be in my future even though its quite similar to the Max Bill looks wise IMO.
I also love how slim a lot of the German pieces are. I hate chunky watches.

what can i say, i am a sucker for my german watches! From Junghans to Sinn to Glashütte Original, Nomos etc. pp. I love them all 😄 Even considering the 903 myself but also interested in the 556 right now (albeit something completely different).

Now that I have read "almost" everything Sinn 903 watch I needs to say that Sinn seems better than Breitling Navitimer. Arghh .... damn you @FloRolf you messed up my head with a great German watch.

FloRolf reacted to Drama Lama in NVIDIA quietly announces a GT 1010 that's apparently faster than a GT 1030 DDR4
Would be cool to have a cheap 4x HDMI 2.1 video output but they probably won’t do that in order to sell overpriced quadro cards

I was not expecting Nvidia to release a new Pascal card in 2021.
Maybe if we pretend like this is a really good graphics card all the scalpers will rush out to buy it, then get stuck with a bunch they can't sell.
Wow, the GT 1010!? I've been waiting for this for years! This is going to be the best value graphics card on the market! Hopefully I will be able to buy one on launch!

My pocketwatch from 1890 (still works too!)

You must be a big guy then
There's also a Sinn Navitimer, maybe that's more your budget. They have the official license from Breitling to do it so it's actually a real Navitimer (though Sinn just calls is the 903).
I am 25 and don't even have a retirement account so I guess you can go ahead
Nah but seriously, maybe try saving up in bigger chunks and just go for it quickly. It's a real horogolical legend already.

Ah! Glad you are still alive and well. Last status update didn't sound very good.
What are your grails my friends?
Mine is the Glashütte Original Panoreserve. I know it's got some Lange vibes but they basically have the same origin so that's fine by me.
The PanoramaDate is executed nicer on the Glashütte though, so take that Lange!
Also very nice would be the Grand Seiko SBGH 267. It's limited edition and therefore quite rare (and $$$) but i love it.
Dial is pretty much perfect.

FloRolf reacted to Skiiwee29 in Should I repaste my graphics card?
its a blower style card... you likely wont see much if any real improvement sadly.

TBH I own most of my grail watches. I wouldnt mind an older 5508, but I'm not into spending 5 figures on a piece that old. I'd feel bad getting it polished and serviced too 😆
I suppose maybe a nice grand complication of some sort would be nice down the line but I dont really like busy dials.

Yeah! Trying to keep it alive here we need some more member
GS is absolutely sick. Owning a Spring Drive is definitely a must have for me in the future. That sweeping seconds is just amazing. And apparently their finishing is top f-ing notch.

FloRolf reacted to SeriousDad69 in Intel Demoes i9-11900K Against Ryzen 9 5900X
If it's 1-8% at 1080p it's probably nothing at 1440p and 4k. Knowing Intel, they'll charge $550 for it and claim it's the best thing since sliced bread. I guess it'll at least make a good 800FPS CSGO CPU.

I wont lie, when I was scrolling down the page quickly I thought it was an Omega.

I generally have no issues with "homages", "copies/clones" and to be honest even fakes only really bother me when people try and sell them as the real deal- but that Heimdallr is definitely a clone of the Seamaster 300m. Pretty much every design aspect, from the case and lug design to the bezel shape, fonts used, the characteristic sword hands, date location and markings, is identical or extremely similar. The only fundamental difference other than the company branding is the lack of the Omega trademarked "wave" markings on the dial.
None of this precludes it from being a decent watch mind, but it is undoubtedly a copy.
