The_Vaccine reacted to Syed Zaid Ahmed in Nvidia RTX 3070 with 16GB of VRAM
    Summary

A Russian modder VIK-on has modded RTX 3070 by adding 16GB of VRAM, previously in January he posted a video on his YouTube channel with 16GB of RTX 2070. Now he done the same thing with RTX 3070 and got some really got result, although Nvidia driver didn't properly support it but he was able to get working from EVGA's Precision X software.

    My thoughts
It would be good if Nvidia released RTX 3070 with 16GB of VRAM as 4K is becoming a new trend among gamers and 16GB would be sweet spot for it as 3070 as already a pretty powerful card.

if you ignore the facebook controversy, its basically fantastic. but because of the FB issue, I would steer away personally and wait for more headsets to become cheaper.

From my breif experience with HTC and with oculus, the HTC headset is far better, but the oculus controllers are literally the best (ignoring valve index because price). So I would go with oculus only if FB change their policies (or if you are willing to mod the oculus to de-facebook it).

in my opinion, I tend to want to spend less in the long run so I would prefer a long lasting (high endurance) ssd from a known brand with at least average specs. so the saberent drives, WD black, and the samsung evo drives are really good. I would highly recommend anandtech reviews. they do *very* in-depth and test and compare everything.

In his video Louis  explains how it worked in the automobile industry to pass the right to repair, how many parties were involved in that and how much money needed to get the voting done through bypassing the politicians, bureaucracy and lobbying and people laughing at your face.

He said it is going to cost around 5 million to make this happen. It is a lot of money for one person but not so much if we help him.

It could be once in a lifetime opportunity to make a huge change for us, the consumers of this industry.

What are your thoughts on how we can help him. He is putting a lot of his personal energy and passion into that.

I though that if we have several tech YouTubers and Louis on the stream talking about the problem and raising the funds.

I would definitely like to tell the story to my grandchildren one day that I was a part of it. I want my right to repair!

it also depends on the game server location. Because you are in chile, there aren't going to be any ubisoft servers in that region as far as I know. so you are always going to be connecting to USA servers which are MUCH farther away. the farther away the server location, more ping.

on speedtest you are always testing with the closest server so it is not a real world speed. there is nothing you can do to improve your ping.
More distance to server = more ping. its just physics.

you can withdraw your money and trade it in for a stable coin. that way you keep your earnings in crypto without loosing value. preferably withdraw to your own private wallet where you have control over your private keys.

not sure about you, but for me, as long as it's even slightly profitable, keep going. even if it dips a lot, some money is better than none.

Google had this planned for a long time. Get people used to it and dependent on it, then start charging.
Anything "free" from a multi billion dollar company costs you in one way or another.

did you really just make a username with the post title?
for ~1400usd that can buy you a lot. literally any modern gaming laptop (800usd+) will give you 300+ fps in csgo and quick blender renders.
for blender and csgo you basically just need a strong cpu as the gpu does not matter as much.

due to the current situation of basically all the good laptops being out of stock or not released yet, I would HIGHLY suggest waiting. laptops with new nvidia GPUs and new AMD cpus are being released slowly as we speak but they are going out of stock fast.
if you can wait 2-3 months do that and make another post then.

The_Vaccine reacted to cmelak in Gaming on a Tesla GPU
You can game on a Tesla GPU (when all other GPUs are out of stock  ) and you even don't need any driver modifications!

    What do you need:
Tesla GPU, I used Tesla M40 (similar to 980Ti) but any other at least Kepler card should work (but doesn't have to) iGPU or another dedicated GPU for display output, I tested Radeon RX460 and GeForce 730 on Asus Z270 motherboard Windows 10 (if you use dedicated GPU for display output you need Windows Insider build), I used build 21301 (latest Insider build) Driver installation:
Download and install latest CUDA Toolkit (11.2). It comes with driver that works with both GeForce and Tesla cards. During installation uncheck non-driver related stuff (CUDA group). If you have two Nvidia GPUs make sure that both use this driver. Switch card to WDDM mode - open Command Prompt as Administrator, navigate to "c:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI" and run "nvidia-smi -dm 0" or "nvidia-smi -i 1 -dm 0" if you have two Nvidia GPUs. Reboot the system. After reboot you should see your Tesla card present in Task Manager. Game or app configuration:
Go to Settings, Display and Graphics settings. Add and select your game or app. Click on Options button and select your Tesla GPU from "Specific GPU" dropdown (you need Windows Insider build) or if you are lucky Tesla GPU is listed as High performance GPU.

The_Vaccine reacted to jrhaberland in Mint Mobile Increased Data Allotment for Each Tier
    Summary
Recently Mint Mobile, a cellular service provider owned by Ryan Reynolds, increased all of the data you receive on all of their plans. Previously their plans were 3GB, 8GB, and 12Gb. Now their plans are 4GB, 10GB, and 15GB at the same price of the old plans.

    My thoughts
I believe this is very important because it is making Mint Mobile an even more competitive option against traditional cellular carriers. This could influence a change in the cellular provider industry causing them do something similar, or at the very least they would lower their prices to be more competitive. Hopefully this could cause a shift in the cost of cellular data in North America, hopefully making it more competitive to data prices in other parts of the world.

if I have 8gb ram but the game wants 6gb ram, it will use 6gb ram.
if you then upgrade to 16gb ram, the game still only wants 6gb ram so nothing will change.

adding more ram is only useful if you are using 80% or more ram or if you want to be able to keep more things open at the same time

first off, you dont need to use all caps here...

I dont have a pixel so I cant guide you exactly, but i hope there is an option in the settings somewhere to turn this off. might be called something like scrolling wallpaper or parallax scrolling or something like that. if that option is not there and you are forced to keep it like that, its just because the current wallpaper dimensions are larger than the screen size. if you pick a wallpaper specifically for your pixel phone, that issue should not persist.
