That's interesting for me to note. I thought the display output/gpu shutting down was only something AMD was using.

This also gives me reason to believe TightVNC might be using GPU acceleration.

I'm glad to hear it worked out for you.

Unlike the other commenters, I'm not going to recommend you to switch to an unfamiliar OS. Instead, go to eBay, Amazon or similar and buy a dummy HDMI-plug, like e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-Display-Emulator-DDC-EDID-Headless-Ghost-Dummy-Plug-Grey/183118481879 -- it pretends that there's an HDMI-display connected, completely removing your issue.

If you look at the recent TPU article you'll see there's almost no difference between x470 and x570, in fact x470 is faster in a number of benchmarks.

So I went to Best Buy to return it and get a new one. I went to the laptops on display to see if they were all like that and all the surfaces had the same ghosting. I went to 5 other laptops of different brands and they all had the same amount of ghosting.

I guess I’m just too used to my 144hz display. I feel like an idiot

mattdmg got a reaction from XR6 in Old PC. What should I update?
I would definitely get a new graphics card before anything else and If you want to do 1080p 144hz a GTX 1070 would work really well.

You should also get an SSD and use the WD for a secondary drive

Although your processor is getting old it's still not terrible for gaming

in my opinion absolutely not worth the time and money, a case goes under the desk and serves the purpose of holding your components and providing airflow.

even if i would get a case for free i would probably not bother swapping it out simply because of the work it requires for very little benefit.

Ever since getting older I now do not understand the point of cheating in any game. I know this has been said a lot but It takes the fun out of it for other players and most importantly, yourself. With cheating, you lose all sense of player progression and feeling of self-worth on a video game. On a game like CS:GO or Dota that is everything that made those games fun for me.

But I guess if you're younger and immature it might be more amusing

    Just my opinion on it
