    Thanks. Yes, I was asking because sometimes there are things that make everyday use better or worse but reviewers and benchmarkers will overlook unless they encounter it in the few hours they play with it. (Things like "it's a pain to connect to some WiFis", "the screen tilt is too limited", or really anything specs won't tell you - like the keyboard, I loved the keyboard on a previous Thinkpad, so I'm glad to know they're keeping the tradition )

    @SpaceGhostC2C

    Sooounds like you're asking for a laptop performance first impressions/review? Not my area of expertise, unfortunately. I only use the laptop for work/study purposes, and those don't involve anything more taxing than Office Suite stuff, MATLAB, and Chem stuff (ChemDraw, Chem3D). The Thinkpad T14 (AMD) is quite a bit overkill for my use case, but that was sorta the point -- I want it to last me longer than the 4-6 years lifespan of my other laptops.

    The two biggest reasons I chose the Thinkpad T14 (AMD) was 1) keyboard, and 2) repairability and spare parts availability. Fell in love with the Thinkpad's keyboard at first touch, when I tried it out at my local CostCo. As for spare parts, I can find compatible RAM, SSDs, batteries, and keyboards easily enough. 🤔

    SpaceGhostC2C got a reaction from sub68 in Stupid question: Do I need to disable secure boot in the UEFI settings if I'm going t
    I lost track of which OS required it on, which one required it off, and which one "recommended" one or the other, and whether each of them could boot in one state if installed in the other state.

    But I'm fairly sure secure boot off is needed or recommended for Linux, to deal with certain driver issues and such.

    That leaves us with "SB", which comes very close to "bs". which I personally think sums up the entire situation at the moment.
