Taja got a reaction from MandoPanda in Bezel-less phones: are they worth it to you?
Never have and never will buy flagships/high end phones, so for me its not a thing. but I really dont like this trend of phones being a fashion statement, but thats what sells and people like so thats what will happen. for me every phone will  have its case because I drop it at least twice a week anyway.

I have a feeling some people in this thread would have acted very differently if it was an AMD card that had been obtained and reviewed before the official publishing date.

At the end of the day, this could and probably will hurt other reviewers, which is a shame.
NDAs disclosure agreements exist so that reviewers get a fair chance to test the card without having to rush something out the door to not be "late" with their review. This is just very bad manners.

    Legally yes, as I said:

No, and I disagree with how Nvidia handled this launch. This is an ugly trend from multiple manufacturers that needs to be stopped.

I completely disagree. Nvidia did not publish this review. Nvidia did not just hand H a card without an NDA. I really don't see how not giving someone a product necessarily hurts other reviewers. That part required action from H. It was H's decision to publish early, even with stated knowledge of the embargo lift date. Once again, legally H did nothing wrong. Ethically, on the other hand, I would argue that they did. They could have just of easily waited until the same time as other reviewers to publish (something that is not unprecedented by the way; GN has done this in the past) out of respect for the honest work that others have put in to their reviews. Instead, whatever their intentions to nobly stand up to Nvidia or whatever, the reality is that others have now lost clicks (and therefore revenue) because of H.

Taja reacted to Syntaxvgm in How would Linus fire Colton?
He calls Colton into his office at the end of the day
He lays down what parts of the company policy Colton has violated, and this is why he will be letting him go.
There's a decent amount of discussion. Linus tells Colton that despite being fired for misconduct, he will not report it as that and he will still be able to collect EI. Colton appreciates this, and still in the process of being fired feels gratitude for what Linus has done for him.
After wrapping up and saying goodbyes, Colton packs his desk and goes home. There's no security to escort him out, LMG is not that corporate. Still, Linus helps him pack, but he's really watching to make sure he doesn't vandalize or steal anything on the way out and he can't help but feel insulted by the distrust.
Colton goes home, feels down, decides to have some drinks with friends, but no one wants to go because it's a weekday and they all have to go to work in the morning- that's right, they still have jobs. Instead, he gets drunk at home, passing out on the couch at 3am.

At 11am, he wakes up to a call.
"Colton, where are you? I was told you never showed up to work today! If you keep this up, you're fired for real!"

Taja got a reaction from georgech900 in Is my PSU good enough for a 1070 or 1060?
Being 80 plus says NOTHING about quality. It is a certification for efficiency, and only that. and a bad one if im being honest. The PSU may be good, but dont take the 80+ as indication of quality. (ofc the gold/platinum 80+ unities are USUALLY high quality, but dont use it as a reference)

    Yep, its kinda weird...
2080 perf = 1080ti is good, and historically expected (the 10 series had a bigger jump, but still)
But 2080 price = 1080ti ?? Why?? For me it feels like a rebrand (though I know its not). Guess we have to wait for the RTX stuff to come out to see if the 2080 is worth it, because right now its just a 1080ti.

Also the most interesting card (the 2070) is not out yet, and the 70 is always the best value for the high end.

Taja got a reaction from dgsddfgdfhgs in PC part cost become very unbalanced recent years
I disagree with the mobo part. Unless you NEED the features, they are useless. You can spend a lot in a mobo and get features you will never use or should never use (like u.2 - why a normal consumer would buy an expensive ssd with almost no real world performance gain?)

Ofc if your usecase benefits from this type of technology or you are just an enthusiast who knows it does not make sense but still want it, go ahead.

I guess what OP is saying ia that people spend too much on stuff that is not neccessary, like a 1000w premium PSU for a 500w regular build.

Taja reacted to Bananasplit_00 in *What is this? Some kind of ssd?
That's an NVME SSD, unless you do 4K video editing or similar you won't gave any gain in going from that from a decent SATA SSD. Load times barely improve and you get much less capacity for your money.

Fallout 4 - lots of action and exploring, and I love the fallout style
Fallout NV - insane story, lots of possibilities and freedom
Divinity Original Sin 2 - very complex, but once you get into it... the combat is amazing, you have A LOT of freedom (story and mechanic wise), the story is complex and layered, the characters are well written... its mind blowing

Taja reacted to AlexTheGreatish in Let Riley Review GPUs - a Petition
    August 31st, 2018 - when Riley "@RILEYISMYNAME" Murdock's lifelong dream died.

As a child Riley Murdock would watched at first sprites, and then polygons forming on the screen before him in amazement, thinking that one day he might be able to test the bleeding edge of graphical technology.  Over the years Murdock has slowly positioned himself at the forefront of technology news, using his good looks and charming awkwardness to not just enchant audiences, but also to penetrate the inner circle of Linus Media Group, potentially giving him some of the hands-on experience with the latest and greatest in graphical technology, although sadly it was not meant to be.

The stage was finally set, Murdock was in the right place, and with Nvidia launching the first GPUs capable of Real Time Ray Tracing (RTX), the time was right too.  For those not familiar with RTX, it is considered the greatest graphical leap in recent history, with Tom's Hardware's esteemed Editor in Chief saying "If these cards deliver even half of what they promise, you won't want to settle for last-gen technology" and "Just Buy It". As you can imagine Murdock was bursting with glee, going as far to say "What's the point of living without Ray Tracing", and in front of a massive live audience, Murdock finally mustered up the courage to ask permission to review this unprecedented new technology, finally realizing his life's purpose.

Moments later though, tragedy struck. Murdock's request was carelessly shot down by Linus Sebastian, @LinusTech (claimed CEO of Linus Media Group, but we all know he's simultaneously paid by Intel, AMD and Nvidia). Imagine a balloon popping in deep space - complete silence - as everything this poor balloon has ever known gets cast out into the void, eternally scattering into the universe, forever forgotten - the look on Murdock's face was like that, times ten.
But it doesn't need to be this way, we can make a change.  Sign this petition, let Linus know that we won't stand for his callous disregard for others feelings, and that we believe that Riley Murdock will do an incredible job reviewing graphics cards.  It's not too late people, if we band together we can defeat the evil Linus, and once again give Murdock a reason to be alive.

Since the incident, Murdock has said "When I'm 99 years old and lying on my deathbed, I'll think back and say, 'Oh my gosh, I didn't have Ray Tracing for 6 months'", but with your help, he can instead lie on his deathbed in peace, please sign the petition.
