Mira Yurizaki got a reaction from The_Geek in Windows 10 License Transfer
If you bought an OEM license, it's tied to the motherboard you installed Windows on. If it's a retail license, then you don't technically have to do anything other than make sure there's only one Windows activated with that license.

You can also tie licenses to your Microsoft account and it'll follow you to whatever Windows install you sign into using your Microsoft account.

Mira Yurizaki got a reaction from Crunchy Dragon in What's the appeal of non-competitive games?
The appeal to me for non-competitive games are:
I don't have to devote a lot of time trying to "git gud", or rather, I can enjoy the game at my pace, not at the pace of the community People on the internet get super salty if things don't go their way Depending on how well developed the game is or what its progression system is like, I'm going to be at a disadvantage the longer I don't play or the later I start from scratch Some games don't have matchmaking, and even then matchmaking can be floaty
This is why FFXIV was the first MMO to really appeal to me. There's plenty to do by yourself if you want (and even then, you can run a lot of that content with a group) and the endgame isn't PvP focused. And before you go "lol, who wants to play an MMO solo?"

Lol, you are running 5 year old windows 10 build with 3 year old drivers. Maybe start by updating your software to this decade.

Because nobody wants to have a hotkey they can accidentally press that causes non-trivial amounts of disruption, especially for something that is typically set-once-and-done anyway.

Also Alt+Enter was the hot key for a while.

You can implement a standard in a terrible way. Example, the Pentium 4 is a terrible implementation of x86.

Since you're using an NVIDIA GPU, enabling Fast Sync gets you no tearing but you'll also get the latest frame that was rendered before the next display refresh cycle.

Plus I think all Turing GPUs support integer scaling. So it might look better at 1080p on a 4K monitor with that enabled.

Mira Yurizaki got a reaction from Sauron in Finding memory leaks of software using the top command
If you want to test your application for memory leaks, use Valgrind. This command should get you started: valgrind --error-limit=no --read-var-info=yes --log-file=[output file] [executable]
    Where
[output file] is the name you want to give the log file Valgrind reports to [executable] is the name of the app you want to check Note that running Valgrind with these options will make the app run slower. Also, make sure to build the app with debug symbols if possible.

Mira Yurizaki got a reaction from Mustangmatt215 in are nvme m.2 cards faster than USB 3.1 gen 2?
Short answer: NVMe is faster than USB 3.1 Gen 2

    Long answer:
Were the B's capitalized or no? A single PCIe 3.0 has a raw bandwidth capacity of 985 megabytes per second (MB/s). Four lanes would be 3,940 megabytes per second, which after some conversion would put it at about 3.94 gigabytes per second (GB/s). But multiplying 3,940 megabytes by 8 to get megabits gives us 31,520, which you can fudge with some numbers and rounding and say it's 32 gigabits per second.

USB 3.1 Gen 2 is rated at 10 gigabits per second, which 1.212 gigabytes per second (the conversion is accounting for an encoding method that uses some bits, so not every bit is useful)

In any case, a capital B is bytes, a lowercase b is bits.

Hardly anyone makes barebones solutions and those that do, you'll end up paying more for the laptop than buying it outright from a system builder.

What requirements are you looking for?

EDIT: At best you could probably find a used Lenovo laptop that still has a socketed CPU. Then you can configure it however you want from there. But again, it's not exactly a cheap solution.

Mira Yurizaki reacted to porina in 4k res 1080p gaming
If you have nvidia GPU, in the driver there are several options like maintain aspect ratio stretch, or integer scaling (on newer GPUs), or "let display handle it". Try those. Maybe also check if your monitor has any kind of scaling options. It needs to be done somewhere. Similar probably applies to AMD but I don't use them nearly as much so have no idea where or what they're called.

I'd guess it is currently mapping 1080p 1:1 pixel wise to 4k hence it looking small.

Mira Yurizaki reacted to thorhammerz in AMD Earnings: Second-Gen RDNA in 2020, Quarterly Revenue up 50% and 50% debt reduction in 2019
So long as the debt is serviceable (preferably positive & growing net operating profits), it is quite good (and arguably a necessity) for a company that needs to grow / scale in any reasonable amount of time. The key sticking point is whether the shareholder value generated from growth can exceed the cost of capital within a reasonable time-frame.

In short, you need to spend money (inventory doesn't appear out of thin air for free, salaries don't pay themselves, etc.) to make money.

    I'm aware of that.

I'm annoyed people think that because things only seemingly affect Intel or we know more about security issues on Intel CPUs, AMD is more secure by default. Because going by that logic, that more known exploits = less secure, Linux is the worst OS since it has the most CVEs out of any other OS on their list.

Who knows? Maybe in another 10 years when AMD has gotten enough traction and people poke at it more, we'll start finding issues with their platforms.

You can't, because the writer permanently burns off sections of the disc to make the 'pits'. There's no way to recover that.
