    Sup fellas, I ran a speedtest on my main modem and it's still getting it's full gigabit download and upload speed. However, when I run it on my pc which runs through two switches, my speed drops to 383/983 Is it possible that the switches running outside could be failing and need a replacement. I'm not sure what the average lifespan is of a basic 8 port unmanaged switch. Thanks.

    I'd say the average budget is about $1500 if you need peripherals and a monitor. Would that be a good price?

    Most laptops have a power savings feature to shut down drives that aren't in use. I recommend replacing the drive and disabling the feature.
