  1. I am helping a friend with a build and upon POST the motherboard(MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max) lit up and all the fans (including CPU cooler) began spinning, however the CPU error LED on the motherboard was lit and nothing was displayed on the monitor that we plugged into the motherboard. We did not install the GPU yet as I was used to Intel and their integrated graphics and wanted to check everything else before installing it. I just read, however, that the Ryzen 2600 does not have integrated graphics. Could this be the reason the CPU error LED is on?
  2. I did not- I just plugged it into the 3.0 port
  3. So I just got a new external Hard Drive to use to store some of the space consuming files on my PC. However, I see it detected in the device manager, but does not show up in my files under my hard drive (usually it would show any other drives like USB's or externals there) How can I access it if I can only see it in device manager (it detects that it's connected and supposedly "working" but I can't open it up from there or anything.
  4. Any recommendations as to what to change the PSU to?
  5. I fixed the link I believe it is an 8700 we have listed
  6. I'm helping my boyfriend build his gaming PC. I just want to make sure all these parts are compatible (checked in PC part picker but I worry and like to double check). He also decided he wants to use watercooling, but I've never installed a water cooler before (though I have experience building PC's) and this is his first time building a PC. Has anyone used the cooler I have listed or does anyone have advice for installing water coolers? Processor: Intel BX80677I77700 7th Gen Core RAM: Ballistix Sport Lt 8GB Single DDR4 Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-P LGA 1151
  7. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good motherboard to pair with the i7-8700? Also when the cpu says it's compatible with 300 series motherboards does that mean it only works with ones that have, for example, z370 in the description, so z270 motherboards such as this (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128968&cm_re=Gigabyte_GA-Z270X-Ultra_Gaming-_-13-128-968-_-Product) won't work with the cpu?
  8. I like OSX features more than Windows. I like their movie editing software and other built in apps more. I prefer Finder to the annoying Windows file system. Idk, something about OSX's simple, quick and imo more organized layout is just so much nicer to me. OSX automatically unzips any file for you. Not sure why Windows makes that a process that requires 3rd part programs.
  9. I too have had very few run ins with true viruses in the past and I'm savvy enough to know I shouldn't click the "We have detected crap on your pc so please download our virus to get rid of your non virus" pop ups I do think that can be half the battle sometimes
  10. I don't really want to get into the whole Tor Browser stuff. I'm not sure if I value that either lol....
  11. Heh did some editing Also definitely heard of that before and will check it out- ty.
  12. So I really hate a lot of the anti virus crap out there, but I feel I could tread on icy waters avoiding anti virus programs all together. I've been using macs and therefore OSX for a long time until I built my gaming/animation rig. As of now my build running windows 10 uses only the included malware protection. I animate with program which often leads me to download models from various places including annoying sites like mediafire, which is stuffed with pop up ads and the like. Any recommendations (No norton plz ) for what- if anything- I should use?
  13. I had a similar issue on a more current mac- I deleted a windows partition off my mac and it screwed up the hard drive. I just took it into the Apple store and they reinstalled the OS and wiped the hard drive, as I suspected was necessary. It was free of charge so if you can't seem to fix it that may be your best option
  14. Cheaping out on my case- I went to install my gpu and I think it was supposed to have screws to secure it- ended up ripping out a shelf cover thingy in the wrong spot with no way to secure it back on so now theres a nice big gap in the case above my gpu that I have been meaning to cover up. Also the case fan doesn't seem to be picked up by my fan control in BIOS. My case is the Deepcool Tesseract
