LewisSpring got a reaction from James_Moler in Backup Software Reccomendations
    Hi there.
I'm looking for backup software for my Windows 10 machine.

    Needs:
Exclusion of folders and files Can backup to NAS (via SMB/NFS or WebDAV Nice to have:
    Cheap Encryption
There is data across my SSD and HDD I want to back up.

I've already used Duplicati 2, it's very customisable, but doesn't handle file access issues well and doesn't get along with Bitdefender.
I've also tried File History, but it doesn't seem to let me customise what gets backed up.

I'm looking at using Backup and Restore (Windows 7), It seems to be pretty good (exclusions, network share), but I'm not sure if there's any reason not to.
On that subject, does anybody know if I can combine the ZIP files it creates on another Machine (EG LInux) if needed? It makes zip files with different folders and files in each

    Thanks!

    EaseUS Todo Backup.

Been using it for years. And it ticks all of your boxes if "cheap" is also covered by it being free.

LewisSpring got a reaction from leadeater in Stop Hyper-V network adapters being created for certain network adapters
I do have Hyper-V enabled, since I was testing to see if it'd add more vEthernet adapters than Application Guard and Sandbox, so I might look into if it is worth moving to Hyper-V.
The only downside is, I suppose, is that I'd not gain any advantage without uninstalling VMWare and Virtualbox. I suppose I don't need-need them if Hyper-V works well enough.

LewisSpring got a reaction from Slayerking92 in Two Routers, One network: Changing gateways between them?
    Hello

If I had two routers: A and B, both connected to the main LAN and their own internet connection, could I change which router I was using to connect to the internet?
    I was thinking:

Router A is primary and will be the DHCP server. IP: 192.168.0.1
Router B is secondary and will have DHCP turned off. IP: 192.168.2.1

On my machine, I change the gateway from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.2.1.
I now use the internet connection of Router B.

    Would this work?
If I need to clarify, please let me know.
    Thanks!

Hello everybody, I've found a tutorial for SYSTEMD online, and that was the best way of doing it after all.
Thank you so much everybody. I've learnt quite a lot!

LewisSpring reacted to WereCatf in Py3: Detect string in input and act on it
Sorry, I forgot that the walrus-operator was only introduced in 3.8. For earlier Python-versions, it'd be:
eventsList = ["FIRE", "TAMP", "INTRUDER", "FAULT"] event = input() if(event in eventsList): decipher_act(event, 1) Not a big difference, but I like using the walrus-operator because it makes the code ever slightly more readable.

It might end up being easier to modify the Python script to find all /dev/ttyUSB* devices and then try to connect to each one until successful,
assuming that the left over devices return a failure when you try to open them.

Declare the mail - variable before the if - clauses. Even just a mail = None would suffice as a declaration and should fix the issue.

are you running the command with sudo? it will ask for a password as long as you are telling it to run as root

    echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/rpi_backlight/bl_power

There may possibly be an example script or premade script somewhere online, but I'm not proficient in AHK at all, so I couldn't help you in that sense.

That foot pedal looks fine, and it looks like it comes with software, so you might not even need AHK.

You can get a USB Foot pedal (that really is a keyboard), and then you could use AHK to make it do the PTT keybind

Seems interesting. If it were intergrated into Office only, I'd like it, Having tabs for multiple files in Word (for example) would be handy.
