Dicehunter reacted to Crimson Dog in Microboard Korean Curved Ultrawide 100Hz Gaming Monitor
Why in the world would you:
    a) gloss over the fact that it has FreeSync
    b) not use FreeSync at all, using a 1080 instead
    c) hope it has G-Sync (hint: if it had it, it'd be much more costly)
    d) complain about tearing when it has an adaptive refresh-rate technology inbuilt which you are not bloody using

    ??

This is the kind of thing that makes people call you an nVidia shill for, mate.

    This review is really subpar:
Freesync monitor tested on an NVidia card. Complaining about tearing, even though it has Freesync. Not testing or disclosing the Freesync interval, which is very interesting for the consumer. This monitor is supposedly based on the new Quantum Dot Samsung panel. This was not tested or disclosed. Monitor was tested with "pro" calibration tools, but not calibrated? If this was truly a QD panel, why not test the wider colour gamut? This is a half assed review, that just needed to be done, it seems. Let someone else review it, if you cannot be bothered then.

Ok your missing the difference between amps and voltage. The bottom readings are amps and do not match the voltage, the voltages are fine at 12.00V, 5.00V and 3.30V, current changes due to load and can increase.

When you multiply current and voltage you get power in watts:

    Power (W)= Current(A) x Voltage(V)

For your total load you ahve a wattage of ~342W

Well, it says that your power supply is outputting 356w

    26*12=312
    3.6*5=18
    1.4*3.3= 4.62

Add 'em all up and Voilá.

Get a Schiit Magni 2. If you're not getting noise/interference from your onboard, don't waste money on a DAC. An amp like the Magni will more than "future proof" your audio setup.

Up to you, but if I have a $200~ budget I'd go for external solution and not waste time with sound cards. What's lacking with your onboard exactly?

It was sarcasm. I've been pretty invovled with music for most of my life.

The sarcasm was due to the fact that I don't agree with the whole "trained ears" canard. Audible improvement is audible to most people if they just pay attention. Inaudible improvement is, well... just that.

Sarcasm I sense possibly? Maybe? Just maybe?

Well regardless, lets say you just sit and listen in a room where there is music playing, say a band through a small theatre PA.
You can literally start to try to pick out sounds you like, and dislike, and start to "train your ears"
Its more of a mind thing I think honestly, you learn to perceive subtle changes and such in a song and in a PA, and often times you can notice more with higher quality hardware
I suppose "To the Trained Ear" is more a saying of learning to perceive more sounds and frequencies in music and audio in general
Its not all bullshit and fairy dust, you can have an ear for it
But I'm just the sound guy I don't know anything  and this is just my opinion I suppose

You may disagree, but I know I've learned to notice things more in audio like that

Blowing cash on a studio DAC and headset or reference monitors, possibly eliminating some electrical buzz or to get the flattest frequency response he can, isn't necessarily going to be worth it if he's just playing fallout 4 (hype)
If he's doing studio work in his DAW for a record label and he gets a faint buzzing in his headset that messes his mix up, from his balls onboard audio controller,
    Yes, it might worth it

But hey, I don't know anything, just a guy on the internet
At least I try to be helpful, instead of just bashing

They are too pricey for 980Ti's, go for a EVGA ACX 2.0 FTW or a MSI 6G.

Yep, 10 will detect 8 and as they both use the same boot loader it will be fine.

One little thing though, when you boot it will appear as if its just going to boot up 10, don't panic as before the login screen comes up you'll be given the option to boot into 8. If you choose 8 it will reboot and boot up again into 8 and not 10. Its a little bit strange why they do it that way now but it does work.

Thanks dude, As long as I can hit 1500 on the core and maybe 7600 on the memory like I've seen MANY reference 980's hit then I'll be happy

If not then oh well no biggie but Asus might want to take a page from EVGA's book and invest in binned chips.

well it depends how good a chip you get, no guarantee it will do better than other cards, but definitely expect at least 1400MHz, most 970/980s can do over 1500

I hope it does a baseline of 1500MHz on the core... I know my Strix is a very rare strix... Most 970 Strixes don't come with samsung either. And most can't hit 1550MHz with 8.3GHz effective on the memory... Or 1568MHz on the core with no memory overclock. Best of luck to you on a decent 980.
