Reminder to always use a credit card when booking a flight:
This is one area US and European consumers have more protections than Canadians. If an airline refuses to provide me a flight thay they cancelled, I the customer am entitled to a full refund. Canada no longer requires customers such refunds, but they used to.
If you don't want to read the article, Westjet is in effect stealing money from Canadian Consumers. They are no longer providing refunds to customers and are instead providing travel vouchers At the same time they are pulling their business out of east Canada entirely. If I was a customer, I would be livid. first I would try issuing a chargeback on my credit card. But if that didn't work, This might be something I would sue them in small claims for.
