ESXi machine is going well with the 16 logical cores to work with. Have most of my lab set up how I like it now, and added more services onto an ubuntu VM after testing with a different VM first. I probably over provisioned with the ubuntu VM with 4 cores and 8GB ram assigned, but I like it to be very quick/responsive. Only assigned 2 cores and 8GB  ram to the freenas/truenas build which has 24TB raw storage and using raid z2 for redundancy. Haven't had ANY problems whatsoever, in fact it's still using 4.4GB of that ram for ZFS cache.

It is so nice to have the extra overhead for spinning up multiple VMs without having to worry about not having enough resources. My freenas (now truenas) VM is going well, with no problems so far, accessing the shares through SMB mostly right now.

I am using either remote desktop/xrdp or SSH to actually interact with most of my VMs, except freenas which I'm still using the webui mostly. I still have a ways to go before I consider my setup finished as such, as I'm still finding projects I want to do, or taking them off of my raspberry pi's load, like running wireguard VPN and pi-hole on ubuntu vm instead.

So hypothetically speaking, if you could get both the 6800XT and a 3080 at MSRP, would there be any point in getting the 6800XT over the 3080 if you are mainly gaming? Performance wise, they are basically the same, unless you want to use RT, then the 3080 is way ahead, but then you look at the software support/features. Nvidia has many cool nice-to-haves like DLSS, RTX Voice and Nvidia Reflex, they have way more partnerships with developers and their driver and software support is better in general. If I'm already spending $650 on a GPU, I don't think it would be that hard to spend $50 more for those features and much better raytracing. If the price difference was closer to $100-150, the 6800XT would be a much more compelling option IMO.

Unpopular opinion: The whole "scalper bad" thing is cringe. If anyone is to blame, it's the people willing to pay like 50% more than MSRP just to get a new console/GPU/whatever early. You aren't getting a worse product if you get it a month later.

Finished building the ESXi server/NAS/homelab hardware... I think I might nickname this one "the bitch!" cos that's what it was kinda like to build in that silverstone case at times 😬

It was actually OK up until you try to get the storage caddy back in... this is how tight it is

I had to re-configure the wiring like 3 times in the area between the pcie devices and the storage, it's just too tight... I would have been SOL trying to use the SATA ports too.
I might end up changing this in the near future. One good thing though to come out of this is if I end up using pfsense OPNsense or whatever as a virtual router, as this box is now in an ideal spot to do this.
Another good thing about this case though is that it can slot into a rack if you want, so that might happen in the future too.

Now on to trying to get all this configured how I want. It's drawing around 120-130W at the wall right now.

Got my new case though, so I can start the build while I wait for the new PSU... I might actually just use a spare one I have for right now until that arrives even, so I can begin the long-ish set up of ESXi and all the VMs I plan to run on there.

And even better my new coffee machine is here today too, so I can enjoy some nice brews while I build😎

I think it's about time game studios stopped asking $60 for games, especially with the current live service microtransaction trend. $30-40 is a much more reasonable price.

Specifically thinking this because of COD CW. I played the beta and I liked it, but I'm not sure if I liked it enough to spend $60 on it. If it was $40, I'd buy it in a heartbeat though.

Building a new ESXi server, having trouble deciding on whether ti use my Ryzen 1700 with compatible mobo (I have x370 and 2x b450). Or whether I should buy a b460 and an i3 with hyperthreading for 8 logical cores to keep power draw lower.

ATM I am in testing phase and surprisingly a 200GE isn't bad (I already had that in the mobo). And using a freenas VM with virtual disks.

And another PSU, decided to try out one of fractals Ion platinum's - I could've gone much lower in price, but love me some fully modular cabling, and for a 10 year warranty was a good price at approx £105 for the 660 Watt. I've also got another couple of 4TB Iron Wolf drives, so can go Rz2 on the storage if I want to now and still have 16TB usable.
I think I'll grab a 32GB mem kit while the prices are low too. Although I have 2x 16GB kits that are gonna be unused once the beast is going, I don't like mixing ram kits, especially in a server build where it's more important to me that it's stable.

Two days with the Samsung S20 FE and so far I'm loving it over my old Pixel 3 XL. Lot of extra options that I could never find on the Pixel, one of the biggest is I can turn on/off fast charging in the settings which I couldn't on the Pixel (or at least not that I found).

Yes $25 a fan is expensive but compared to Corsair's $45 fans that DONT snap together and provide a clean look they are pretty good.

The only thing that lets it down slightly is the night photos on the stock camera app, this is somewhat solved by using Gcam sideloaded onto it.... the reason I say slightly is that not all the cameras are supported on the Gcam app, so ATM I am using the stock app in the daytime, and if I need any low light shots I switch to the Gcam app.
Battery life and 30W charging is great, the battery is lasting me more than 24 hours on around 60-70% of the battery, and that's with approx screen on time of 8-10 hours... and with always on display turned on, so I don't have to wake the phone to see the time/date/battery %. This morning I woke up and had forgotten to charge the battery, and it was still on 28%, after 10 mins or so it had gone to above 50% while I was showering. After that I left it for approx 30 mins and came back to it showing 94%.
The default battery saving, ie the non-battery saving mode, but still optimizes apps if left open etc, is fantastic... it hasn't closed any of the apps I have been using in the background and switching between, so nice and fast switching etc. Then when it's been closed has seemed to know which apps I would still want running in the background... and others have been closed.

ATM I am blown away by the performance, build quality, and the ease of use. My old poco F1 scored approx 280,000 in Antutu IIRC, the new one scores 567,000

The Stock launcher is plenty good enough I have found, I am using a LIVE wallpaper too, and as previously mentioned an always-on display function. The below-screen fingerprint reader is pretty accurate, it's only messed up a few times, but that was fixed by me re-scanning the print... it was my off-hand thumb-print that I don't use often to unlock anyway. The main print I use, and all the other prints I scanned have worked each and every time.

The UI has had several very good things added over the poco f1 that I can see, but before coming to this phone I was actually using Nova launcher, so can't say for sure it hasn't been updated there too. One of which is the separation of the notifications and the quick functions (you have a choice though), so swiping down from the upper left corner takes you to notifications, and the opposite corner to the quick functions like Bluetooth/Wi-Fi etc... this to me at least has made things much more useful for my day to day usage.

TLDR - My poco F1 was good, but the F2 pro steps it up dozens of notches... I wouldn't have thought it possible TBH as the F1 was great build quality, SD 845 etc etc, but the F2 pro's SD865 is noticeably faster, the cameras are great, especially the 8K video recording, but also the 64Mp main camera, the macro, and the 20Mp front facing pop-up.
