@PhoenixGamerI'd also recommend older cameras and gear. You'll get to know the basics without breaking the bank and in the end, it's not the gear that you have, it's the photographer that uses it. Older gear is such a bargain and can offer a lot, especially if you're operating with a tight budget as you are. And please don't get hung up on sensor format and brand. That'll just delay your purchase as it's an endless search of what's better, which in the world of tech is kind of silly.

Cvet76 got a reaction from FakeKGB in What happened to Cordy (and sequels), by SilverTree Media, and does anyone know where I could find the full game?
After googling a bit, I found that SilverTree Media was bought by GSN Games back in 2013. SilverTree also didn't tweet on their official account since about that time. I'd imagine they just sold their stuff and GSN discontinued it.

The primary advantage of a laptop is the portability. If you're not leveraging that advantage, I do not recommend a laptop instead of a desktop. Waiting until desktop parts are reasonably priced is recommended.

I sold my used D810 ~2 years ago for about a grand. If you can find a D810, or maybe a bit cheaper a D800, I would say its one hell of an option. I shoot D850 as my upgrade from those, (had a 800 and 810), and man they are amazing bodies. Obviously there are cheaper options, and nikon FX glass is not cheap (and its heavy gear.....), but lots of megapixles and very solid ISO handling is quite nice. Also, they do very well for astro photography if you ever get into that........

Some examples of stuff I have done with the 850 (I have two bodies, last image is my second body shooting time lapse of us setting up our Astro Photog gear, F1.4 and good ISO handling really is nice ;)):

Also, sorry.... ltt forum slightly kills sharpness a bit. You can expect a D800 or better to be plenty sharp, don't worry, lol.

But, that said, Sony A7ii or A7iii is an amazing body as well, and a lot cheaper.

I agree. You can find D800's any day of the week for $600. That leaves $400 for a lens, which can get you a fair bit.

I use a D800 as my daily driver at the studio to make a living. Been a commercial shooter for 15 years.

Spending $3500 on a D850 wouldn't net me anything aside from loss of income, as the IQ between the 800 and 850 are nearly identical at ISO 100, and nobody will ever see 9MP of difference between the two. Locked down 85mm PC-E, and get the job done. The 36MP chip in that and the D810 is one of the best chips ever made.

If you want something kinda weird, kinda interesting, I really enjoy shooting Olympus OMD cameras.
I have an E-M1X and an E-M1 mk2 and the image quality and capability of the bodies are truly incredible for their size, especially when you consider their multishot feature that really helps improve color fidelity and detail. I actually use the E-M1X for all of my architectural work because of the boost in depth of field and the Multishot mode creates a virtually perfect file with loads of malleability

This is off the OMD, actually:

NOT to be confused with ACETONE which is more common used for nail polish removal  ... acetone is another good solvent, but a bit more toxic (not a good idea to breathe in or smell the fumes for long periods of times)  and can damage some plastics and can remove paints (printed text on components)

Isopropanol should not be strong enough to remove (most if not all) paints, you're probably thinking of acetone.

Half Life 2. Play through it almost yearly. Love the soundtrack, simple, but reasonably realistic graphics without the unnecessary bloom and other effects. Patiently waiting on HL3 and was kind of disappointed Alyx was VR only.
BUT of the casual games, I love playing FreeCell on gool ol' Windows. Have more hours in FreeCell than I do in every other game I've ever played combined.

Honestly for what you're doing this rig might be more than enough. I might spring for maybe a rx590, rx5600xt, something like that to just give you more graphics horsepower, and I'd maybe get a newer monitor with a higher refresh rate? You might not really need to make any upgrades. Is something in particular giving your grief?

He already has an SSD and an HDD. He uses his SSD solely for Doom.
In the first reply I wrote I suggested you @muiz92switch the SSD and HDD. But then deleted it and forgot to include it the second time. Put the OS on your SSD and use the HDD for a mass storage device for your games. Load times are not that dramatically changed and SSDs are, as @Moonzystated, a game changer if you install the OS on them.
BAM! Money saved, SSD purchase postponed until you get your other components in check.

i would put SSD above the rest if he's still booting off a HDD
it boosts the experience by a lot (even on my core 2 quad system) and the power draw change wouldnt be too different warranting a worry for the PSU

but yes, looking for an i5 6400/6500/6600 or i7 6700 would be a decent upgrade
and another 8gb of RAM would be nice too, i would grab this before CPU.

If you want an AMD processor, you're gonna need a new motherboard, since the one you have is for Intel CPUs only. So that there is 2 products right of the bat.
My suggestion to you, depending on your current budget, would be to get yourself a new reputable PSU and an i3 or i5 or even an i7 intel CPU. And another 8GB stick of RAM. Just getting yourself off of the Pentium brand into the i-series will be a jump in performance along with the memory.

They do on certain motherboards, not this one.
Just check the manual of the motherboard and find out.

In my experience the more premium chipsets don't have this limitation, but stuff like B450/B550 or B460 do have this "use certain M.2, turn off certain SATA port(s)" thing.
It always depends on the motherboard in question and this one does not turn off SATA ports when M.2 drives are used.

See, I agree with your main point, that he has nothing to apologize for...he took a sponsor that fits whatever criteria he has..that's business.  The PROBLEM is..he then did do the rather meely mouthed half non apology thing. THAT opens him up to valid criticism. I think @LAwLz is a bit obsessive on this paticular topic, but it's their bugbear to hunt, and none of their points are wrong.

People whined about the commercial. Rather than shrugging and rolling around in the money he got, Linus had to try to justify it and came off the worse for doing so.
