You can't trick me! As a true PC enthusiast I know far to well the maximum limit you can spend on a PC where an additional dollar does not amount to any added benefit and it is far far under 60K! Additionally high end resolutions are far too problematic and subtract many important gaming qualities and principals.

1440p hands down. 1080p monitors are not acceptable anymore in the PC master race

LeapFrogMasterRace got a reaction from DCCFan in i5 6600k DOES bottleneck gtx 1080
Yes a stock i5 will bottleneck a bit (especially at 1080p) but once overclocked there is no visually noticeable difference only measurably. Anyone who says a Haswell i5 won't bottleneck a 1070+ is wrong but anyone who says there will be huge unbearable difference (when clocked to 4.5+) is more wrong. Why would you buy a GTX 1080 for 1080p anyway?

Asrock has updated the bios of this board to support 3000 series however there is a chance you can get a old dusty board that has been sitting on a shelf pre-bios update though I am sure this is unlikely. I personally recommend trying to get the money for 5000 series and the newest chipset.

Yeah well ... even at 4.8 its not stable under 1.34. I don't get it lol on a lot of forums people can get it to be stable at 5/5.1ghz with a lower voltage than 1.34 .... i cant even to 4.8 hahahahaha i must be doing something wrong !

Anyway, thanks a lot for helping, i will keep these info in mind and maybe try with another CPU or with another motherboard !

LeapFrogMasterRace got a reaction from onlybuilt4cubanxlinx in Where does this plug in (new pc build)
The F-Pannel adapter can plug directly into Intel standard motherboards. Or you can do what you are doing now which is manually put the little plugs together.

LeapFrogMasterRace got a reaction from bmx6454 in Need a suggestion for a gpu upgrade
Why are you upgrading? Do you need a better GPU to help with developing or do you want it to play games.

If you are playing at 1080p it will probably bottleneck more than its worth. At 1440p it should be okay if you overclock the CPU. 4K you probably have nothing to worry about.

LeapFrogMasterRace reacted to RaphaNadal in 1440p: Is going from a 4690k to a 4790K until the next big releases a good idea?
Better go for Zen 3 than the first gen of AM5 IMHO. AM5 will bring DDR5 along with it, and its likely that such hardware changes won't be smooth initially. DDR5 RAM will be the first time that RAM can be read and written at the same time.

Hard to say how much performance you're losing by sticking with your 4690K, but the difference is not trivial compared with Zen 3 or 10900K.

I would say - upgrade CPU\Motherboard\RAM, see if your GPU holds up for the games you play, and then upgrade GPU at a later date.

That gives you a month and probably more to figure out what mobo you might like and check ram prices etc. I only mentioned last/current gen ryzen in case you didn't want to wait. I'm confident you could move platforms now and lose almost nothing on the cpu when selling it on.

Edit : I have heard rumors of a new amd mobo that will be forward compatible, but am sceptical. I would not count on that before announcement

I suggest go for 8 core Zen 3 CPU rather than 6 core Zen 3 CPU, as new consoles from Sony and Microsoft  coming out this year are 8-core AMD parts.

I would expect newer games to be optimized for 8-core in the next 4-5 years, which is an expected life for an 8-core part like 3700X, or it’s Zen 3 counterpart.

Well the current speculated release date of the 4600x is early October and I can hold out until then. This 4600x is the last CPU that will work with the current motherboard socket because it is coming out so soon I am unsure what to do.

The important part is In 1-2 years ryzen 5000 comes out with a new socket that will hopefully last just as long as the AM4 did which was form your old 1200 all the way to the 4600 that comes out next month. I am not sure what Intel is doing anytime soon.

My personal opinion is that you should go with a ryzen board that is backwards and forwards compatible and get the cheapest cpu you can for it until 4000 or whatever they call it comes out.

I went that route a gen ago, spent £50 on a 1200 or equivalent (I forget) and only lost £10 on it, swapped to 3600 which still sells new for the £180 I paid for it etc.

The compatibility with multiple boards means they hold value really well and will do for another year or two.

The other angle is what are intel promising any time soon? PCIe4 may also be a consideration.

A 4600x seems like a good choice for an "immediate" system overall considering its piratically right around the corner and the list of benefits we could go on about vs my old platform... Additionally I am sure average lows will be much better as you mentioned this is defiantly a weak point for quad cores.
But if I do go that route I feel like I will be stuck on a bad upgrade timeline. Look at it this way, wait until next overall form Intel and AMD then I get a brand new socket, great upgrade path permanently because I can just upgrade up 2 series of AMD chips until the next overhaul and so on.

Upgrade to 4600x: No more CPU refresh upgrades, will be basically left in the dust by mid 2022 latest and I will probably be in the same spot I am in now in 2-3 years.

it defiantly depends on the game, but it is definitely a bottleneck. That said... is your FPS actually not enough for you? If its working "fine" for you - its fine, if not - best upgrade.

Too bad they don't have an older 4 core/thread intel part in here...

It would still post with your power supply it is very unlikely that is the issue. It would be a problem under load like gaming not from just powering on. This is probably a Bios issue put the old card back in or just use integrated graphics and do a bios update.

    that does sound pretty interesting
all these kids watch this stuff and come to me crying how they also want to be a sofware or game developer when they grow up.
showing what all the different tech jobs are actually about and how the day to day is will give more insight and might help kids to stop glorifying it so damn much.
but it would have to be at regular companies. no waiting for google to invite them to interview a soft dev. that shit aint real for 99.5% of people in that field.
also maybe include the usual requirements for any given job and how their are compensated.
like everything you need to know if your thinking about doing that job in the future.
now that does almost sound like more of a tech quickie / afap style series but i think on-premise tours with companies trying to promote themselves to potential new employes would be much more interesting. you know seeing it people in their natural habitat.
the list of it jobs is long and getting longer. it would be nice to give younger people a little bit of an overview on whats out there and what might fit them best if they absolutly have to go into tech (im usually not recommending that to anyone though cause i think IT isnt great help when your social life is already struggling but thats besides the point)

LTT should do a video on the different jobs in the world of tech. Maybe a multiple part series that covers things like working in game/app development, working in IT, hardware/software engineering jobs etc. I know they have maybe touched on some of these during company tours but it's not to the extent I would like to see.

Okay thanks for the advice. If I want to make sure they fit all I need to do is match the first three letters to my vin right?0 Eibach says they are for ys3f. I am asking because I see some places list them as 2003-2005 only. CarID asks for a sub number 12,40 or 44 for OEM springs.
