Welcome to the 1100 CB score X58 club .

My little I7 980X dit that as well on what i found impressive on air cooling. Cooling setup is Noctua NH-D14 with 3 high RPM fans and thermal grizzly kryonaut cooling paste.

    Stock CPU

    My daily driver (4.25 GHz)

4.75 GHz that a lowed me to break the 1100 CB wall on X58.

Some more result of my system for those of interest.

How about M.2 NVMe SSD on X58.

Gaming performance for those who might know Final Fantasy benchmark.

The reason for 950 pro works is because it has a build in legacy mode or opt—rom. Thanks to that non uefi motherboards can see this ssd in bios and by that alows you to install windows on it and boot from it.

With that said i am like wise enjoying the wunders of m.2 Nvme ssd on x58. Just a samsung 950 PRO 256 gb version while yours is a 512 gb.

X58 might been exspensive back in the days but here 10 years later, it turns out that it where every penny worfh of it. All these great moments ands surprizes i have had with this platform over the years makes all the money i speend back then every penny worfh it.

Like latest gpu gen works flawless, oc so freaking great even on air cooling and got i7 920 to 4.4 ghz and my current i7 980X up to 4.75 ghz on air cooling. Even 10 years after lauch i can still max out even the newest games. Of cause its some what thanks to my 1080 ti but also the cpu for sure. And the only platform with triple channel memory support and i cut go on. But i better stop here. X58 has been a blast from star and up to now and still going strong.

Took a run at low settings on 720P to see how bad my old I7 980X @ 4.25 GHz CPU would bottleneck my GTX 1080 TI turns out not so bad. I find this very surprising since so many are telling me it bottlenecks, this proves something else. 8 years old CPU working with one of the fastes GPU´s out right now is not so bad as people want it to be. I mean if CPU shut bottleneck gpu the score would be much lower than it is

Good old x58/i7 980X @ 4.25 ghz for every day use. But can do up to 4.77 Ghz on aircooling for benchmark or if i need an ekstra boost of power. No big plan for upgrade in 2018. This old pc has every thing i need right now. Sata 3 (2 ports), USB 3.0 (2 ports), A bunch of SSD´s (4 in total where one is a M.2 NVMe SSD), powerful GPU (GTX 1080 TI) and a old but still capable 6 core CPU.

oh and i also have an Asus Vivostick TS10 mini HDMI pc powered by an Intel® Atom™ x5-Z8350 Processor.

For those of interest. Here are some screenshot og benchmark from my old junk.

First screenshot clocks for every day use and second one is maximum clocks for when i need a ekstra boost and shows M.2 SSD speed on PCIe gen 2.

Firestrike and CINEBECH R15 benchmark to prove that the system and CPU is stable at these clocks. First firestrike is with every day overclock and second is max. CINEBENCH R15 cpu is pushed to 4.77 GHz compare to 4.72 in fire strike so that you can se there is more in this CPU than i ran it at as max clock.

So yeah cant really see a reason to upgrade yet. Also X58 has proven over the years to be very stable and hard to kill even with years of abuse and torture. As you can se above my CPU is at times pushed hard, but it has survived so far.

Intelfreak got a reaction from Froody129 in Shut i replace my old I7 980X to a newer CPU for games?
At 2560x1600 i have no problems to stress the gpu. Hits max power target pretty often and gpu load is 95%+ all the time means most the time load is 99%.

But yeah after all the advice i will wait a bit longer before replacing cpu.

Yeah taken its age to a count. Its performence are not to shabby.

If x58 cut speak for its self, it would properly say: im old not obsolete.
