well if we say goodbye to x86 we say goodbye to a lot of games and emulators.
OSX is now practically game/emulator free now making mac users probably wanting to use windows now.

I would not fuss over the high temps, as some software is very inaccurate with reading temps on zen2.
HWinfo seems the most accurate as it often separates the temp of the processor and the temp of its surrounding parts.
I know I am good when in bios my motherboard reads 42 and on the stock cooler.

There are MOS 6502 made in 1981 that still work today, lifespan of a actual chip is not determined with age but with capability and performance.

Yeah I would not do it, over time power supplies can get issues due to leaking capacitors and the like even without being used.

Well its understandable as Cherry makes itself very well known compared to its chinese counterparts.
Kailh is trying though, they seem to be really be going for a market injection with some unique switches.
The one thing I do like about Kailh is that they seem to be willing to listen to input, as
Chyrosran22 on youtube has commented on a few occasions so good on them. Gateron seems to play it safe though, oetemu is certainly more known for its mouse buttons but gateron isnt really a household name.

    why the 2 NVME drives?
Even for video rendering that seems a bit silly, you can just get the 1TB NVME as both a file storage and boot drive and save the rest for another traditional hard drive.
Remember that SSD's dont give you more FPS they only make games load faster and for video rendering you only need 1 NVME drive to get something workable.

I just think too many modern builders forget about the need for mass storage and sure standard hard drives are not as compact or fast as SSD's but still have the leg up in cost factor.
If large capacity SSD's were more affordable I would recommend them

MadmanRB got a reaction from Shreyas1 in Motherboard upgrade on prebuilt system???
While this may be possible do keep in mind there are a few possible caveats:
1 form factor: while yes if the motherboard is microATX sized that doesnt mean its microATX and the rest of the machine will comply to the ATX standard.
This includes things like power supplies, front panel connectors, internal layout and such.
A lot of the time these OEM machines use proprietary parts so it may be wise to open up your machine and see what kind of cables are used.

2 Airflow: if you intend to make this into a gaming PC keep in mind that a lot of those cases have rather poor airflow and not meant to take on heating parts like graphics cards, you may have to mod the living hell out of that thing to make sure what you put in there doesnt fry like an egg.

3 Size: related to point number 1 but this does matter.
A small form factor case simply cant take regular form factor parts and so if you want to pop in a graphics card this may have a limiting factor.
If this is one of those slim PC's your options are limited.
If this is a mid size tower then we may have something but its not guaranteed that you wont bump into issues.

It would be nice to have photos here, as sure linking your model is a good starting point but knowing its externals and internals will help determine if you can mod this into something awesome or not.

MadmanRB got a reaction from ckinfos in Advice on If my is CPU good enough for new GPU and what Monitor to get?
Your setup probably can take 1440P but I would actually more pair your processor with a RTX 2070 super at max.
As you will be dealing with possible CPU bottlenecks best not go crazy.
The 2080TI might leave your processor in the dust.
I say go for a 2070 super this way you can have spare change just in case your system needs a new processor/motherboard/memory.
the 2080Ti is pretty expensive after all and it does seem silly to pair it with a 5820k

I mean the 5820k is still a good processor and all but there is always potential for bottlenecks

MadmanRB got a reaction from bipolarsuxs in Overclocking
Keep in mind there are pros and cons to overclocking.
On one hand you get a performance boost and with a good overclock you can work wonders.
On the other hand it does generate some heat not to mention overclocking can cause stability issues.
    Is overclocking necessary?
Not really but if you can do it its worth a try
People get hung up on frequency and boosts but if the system is running both fast and cool then I say perhaps overclocking may not be the best option but it is nice to play with.
Personally i am more prompt to overclock my GPU then my CPU as my EVGA 1070Ti Silent FTW card is meant to be overclocked but my processor... well the overclocking potential of the 3600 is there but its not like there is a lot of headroom

I am going to chime in and say 144Hz is more then enough for most gamers.
Only if you intend to be a pro esports gamer should you get anything higher than 144hz.
    Otherwise, 144hz is fine.

MadmanRB got a reaction from BTGbullseye in 5700 or geforce 1660 ti
Still I would recommend at least 550W PSU as the issue with some of those low wattage models is lack of proper cables and or connectors.
Plus it never hurts to have some overhead (and its not like a 550W PSU consumes 550W)
I use power supply calculators more as a basis rather then anything else as while yes modern parts are very power efficient some of those low wattage power supplies skimp on things like SATA cables and such (or GPU power connectors in your case).

    No keep the 3700X
Remember this is still early days for the Ryzen 3000 series and AMD is coming out with some microcode updates here soon.
I mean the 3700X will still be good at photo editing and perhaps the microcode update will help solve your issues.
Also the fan being noisy may have something to do with not having the software for your fan controller.
    What motherboard do you have?
    What memory kit?
Perhaps a bios update will help.
I mean you just got this system, give it a chance.
The 3700X is a great processor and it would be a shame to ditch it so early.
Stability will come and if this is a fresh brand new system then yes maybe upgrading the bios will help.
Besides the upgrade to the intel system will still be a bit of a dead end if you dont have a overclocking ready motherboard.

The health of the HDD has no impact on the SSD.
However bad sectors does indicate failure, mind you its still okay to use a hard drive with bad sectors but too many of them is bad, real bad.
Some people panic at a few bad sectors, its fine it doesnt always mean hard drive failure.
However it should be fine but do consider a new drive here soon just in case.
How many bad sectors do you have?

Hrm, it could still be bad RAM or dead motherboard.
I mean yes the machine is only a year old but that doesnt matter.
A part can break rather if its old or brand new.
I would see if you can get another stick of RAM, or a dual channel kit.
I mean we ruled out the power supply so next is to see if its the motherboard or the RAM.
The easier to diagnose is the ram so try that first.
Even try the ram in another slot and see if that works.

Are you sure its not a RAM issue?
As you only have 1 stick in there and that can be a big  factor here, Ryzen needs dual channel.

Not so long ago there was a streaming service that had a vast collection of old movies, old TV and more.
This service was called netflix and it was good as no more need for big DVD collections or going to a certain harbor full of seafaring criminals with eye patches and peg legs.
In 2020 however Netflix will be on life support and we will have a mass of un nessasary un wanted and un needed streaming services.
    We got:
    Amazon Prime
    Hulu
    CBS all Acess
    Britbox
    Disney+
    Peacock
    HBOMax

    Enough is enough

Too many streaming services now, too much money out the door.

Personally I am just going to kill all my streaming service subscriptions, get a VPN and hoist up the jolly roger.
I am done playing this game, I tried to be law abiding and not break the rules but now.... screw it.
    This madness has to stop.
I will probably make a plex server in the near future, rip and torrent whatever I want to watch and tear the rulebook up and throw it into the San Marianas trench where no scurvy bilge rat can find it.
Hoist away my anchor and set sail for the high seas.

Anyone else feel the same way?
Oh and if the mods feel this is too hot i understand, I just wanted to get this off my chest.
I know talk of not so legal methods like this is looked down upon but personally....

    Yarrr.

I just dont want to invest in DVD's or blue rays, those take up room.
At least with my plex server idea i can just get a small form factor PC for it and its still will be cheaper then buying 800 boxed sets of various TV shows I like.
