comicsansms got a reaction from ChuckWizard in Another retro benchmark: Cinebench R15 on Core 2 Duo T7400
    A Core2 Duo isn't retro. A Pentium 4 isn't retro. A Pentium 3 might be retro.

There is also a Thread for Cinebench scores.

comicsansms got a reaction from TopHatProductions115 in Can I upgrade my HP Probook 6570b's CPU?
Probook 6570B will use Socket G2 CPUs (PGA998B). My Elitebook 8470P originally came with an ivybridge i5, but that got swapped out with an i7 3630QM, then to an i7 3720QM, - plus for a brief period, a sandybridge i5, (because I could).

You should be able to upgrade to a quadcore sandy or ivy socket G2 i7. Also, make sure you have a HP 90W charger, because the computer will slow itself down if it sees a 65W charger

comicsansms got a reaction from 17030644 in Do I Need A 1000W PSU?
Not really. It really depends on the unit, some are below 50, while others are closer to 90. Anyway, most of the time, you aren't going to use 375W of a 750W supply, so that logic falls away there.

If you want a PSU with better efficiency; get a more efficient supply, not a higher wattage supply.

The lamp is ancient. It ain't mine, it came with the room in this share house.

All I know, it probably isn't safe. Single isolated wires, and the power plug doesn't have isolation over half the prongs

comicsansms got a reaction from jonnyGURU in Seasonic SS-520GM2 520W 80+ Bronze - Fan replacement?
Buy a new PSU, preferably one that's not old shit, like that is.

Replacing the fan in the PSU is just unsafe
    - EXACT fan replacements are required, or the PSU could cook itself.
    - The PSU retains charge, even if it is not plugged in. Touching a 500V cap, can be deadly
    - If something happens, and your PSU catches fire, and burns your house down, your insurance won't cover it, nor will seasonic's, because you modified a critical safety feature

If the fan spins up on startup then stops, it is just testing to see if the fan works or not.

It should turn on when the chipset is getting hot, and needs to cool it down.

Lowered your power limit from the full 750W to 600W????

What do you mean by this? Your system is like a 250W system. I think your computer just isn't stable.

It needs a laptop power cable. Weirdly, Gigabyte's site doesn't say what size the jack is. I would get a 120W universal charger from Officeworks or something. Don't buy a non-name off ebay, it'll be shit, and likely will kill something.

After you have selected the correct source, click on the volume bar. That should give you a ding sound.

If you get the ding, you have just got your audio output set to the wrong device.
