  1. Hia, my ROG PG279Q bit the dust earlier today-- I'm not getting any power, and screen only flashes white, so I think it's time for a new monitor. I can't find a good priced replacement for this exact model though and I'm not really sure if I should look at any brands in particular, does anyone have any recommendations for something in the 300-700 price range with a similar feature set to 27in, g-sync, 1440p, ips, 1ms, 144+hz? HDR would be nice if that exists in this price range
  2. NVIDIA usually says that the cards will become available on a given date, but does anyone know at what time and timezone specifically they become available to purchase?
  3. Weeelp. I just heard that it was better than the 2070 and was looking for an upgrade, and most charts I could find were comparisons between the 3060 ti and 2070 super-- I just have the regular 2070. Oh well, I can just sell it or return it. Shame about the lackluster performance.
  4. I was under the impression that it would be an upgrade, the clock speeds are more or less the same but the 3060 has more CUDA cores. Why would it be slower? I got one from a local hardware/tech store, there was a big line in the morning.
  5. Hey fellas, I was able to snag a MSI Gaming X 3060 to replace my old zotac 2070 extreme amp oc card. When I switched them out the first thing I did was boot up Final Fantasy 14 to see the FPS improvement, however, there was actually a decrease in frames from when I was using the 2070.. what's going on here?
  6. Going to do a build with the Lian-Li PC O11 Dynamic with 9 ml120 fans from corsair. Will the commander pro be enough to connect them all or will I need something else? On an unrelated note, does anyone know if you have room for fans on the bottom of the PCO11D if you vertical mount your gpu?
  7. this is the stuff I've been trying to use, but haven't had much success so far. which one of these do you think i should be using more of, part 1 or part 2? my theory so far is that the particles may have been burned onto the cpu die, since they were probably still there last time i turned the laptop on. still leaves the question of how to get 'em off or maybe i'm just completely wrong lol
  8. I tried cleaning with alcohol and arcticlean parts 1 and 2. I don't think that could be caused by liquid metal, but I could be wrong.
  9. Hey fellas, I need some help here. A while ago I re-applied some higher quality thermal paste on my GX701GWR laptop, but the temperatures were higher than expected. I've repasted the laptop several times trying to figure out why they were higher than they should be, even tried liquid metal once, and I think I found the problem but I'm not really sure what to do about it. During one of the repastes I think some particles of dust or something got onto the CPU and that's why the thermals are worse, but I'm not really sure how to get them off.. they just stay on the cpu die when I try
  10. I was hoping to use a raid controller card since it has better performance than software raid like windows storage spaces. Definitely! Any recommendations for services to keep data backups online?
  11. I'm planning on building a new PC soon and since I recently suffered a hard drive failure, I want to ensure redundancy as much as I can going forward. Can anyone recommend a reliable raid controller card that supports Raid 5, preferably in the $50-$100 range?
  12. aweomse, thank you! that will work just fine. the physical layout of the drives doesn't really matter as long as they're all still connected to the raid controller or motherboard
  13. I'm going to be doing a new build soon and I want to use the Lian Li Pc-O11 Dynamic, but it only has two 3.5in drive bays but I'm planning running a Raid 5 configuration which needs 3 drives. Is it possible that I could use a few of the 2.5in slots to put one more HDD in?
  14. I was looking at a laptop for black friday, and I found something interesting regarding the models I was looking at on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M9SN4CD/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1 This GX701 model has an i7-8750h and RTX 2080 Max-Q, with 16gb ram (8gb soldered and 8gb in the sodimm slot), and it costs about $2500. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QRGS23Y/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1 This GX701 model has an i7-9750h and a laptop RTX 2070 (note, not max-q), as well as (according to the questions section of the amazon page) 16gb s
  15. Heya! I'm in the market for a new monitor, but I'm really not sure where to start. I'm looking for something larger than my current ASUS VS229 with good color accuracy, good refresh rate and response time for the best bang for the buck, preferably with g-sync for my RTX 2070. That being said, I don't really know what to be looking for in monitors (least of all color accuracy). Any suggestions or pointers for what I should be looking for? Thanks for the help!
