My mother is looking to switch over from Sprint…

She want's to switch because of poor reception with Sprint.
  2. My mother is looking to switch over from Sprint to Verizon. As a result there is a new promo for $1000 off the iPhone 12 Pro/Max when you buy one (basically, buy one get one for $100). I would be buying half of the first phone, so I could potentially get a 128GB 12 Pro Max for about $600 after activation. And thats before I sell my 8 Plus.

      Yeah but no fingerprint reader.

Unless you are ready to forgo that and buy a new phone.

Her Sprint (now Tmobile) should be superior to Verizon. Is she thinking of switching just for the promo?

  3. Not gonna lie, one of the things I straight up like about Windows 10 compared to macOS is how much more you can do with the right-click menu on a PC. For example, if you're in a folder, you can right click and create a word document right there without opening word first. You can also do things like copy a hyperlink in word from the right-click menu on a PC, but on a Mac you have to right-click -> open the hyperlink menu -> then copy the link.

That being said, Finder is a better file manager than Explorer, Finder just has not as useful right-clicks.

To be fair, there was a time where Apple didn't acknowledge that right clicks really existed

Wasn't the ball click right click in apps that supported it?

  5. Sounds like that iPhone has been through a lot. You certainly are in a tough position. The next iPhone is about half a year away with no guarantees that the next one will offer what you want. If you're otherwise happy with the 8 Plus, go for the repair option. It's still a perfectly good phone to use in 2021.
  6. There are a lot of "rumors" saying that the iPhone 13 will have an in display fingerprint scanner. How credible those are? Your guess is as good as mine. I'd say, if your iPhone 8 Plus still does everything you want it to (in my case mine still does) I'd keep it and replace the glass only if you really need to. For me personally, It's going to take a lot for me to upgrade form my 8 Plus. The new iPhones are simply too expensive. I'd love a new one, but the prices for a 64GB model are crazy.

When I bought my 8 Plus, the iPhone XR was new. I was able to trade in my iPhone 6s Plus and because of that I was able to get the 64GB iPhone 8 Plus I have now for only $450. I think I’m just at the point where one more generation will dump enough features down the pricing structure to make upgrading to something worth it. The iPhone XR would technically be a downgrade from an iPhone 8 Plus (imo) and the iPhone 11 is priced similar to how the 8 Plus was, but I’m just not that into it knowing the 12 exists.

  10. I bought a G305 Lightspeed about a week or two ago. It’s intended use is a mouse for my MacBook when I’m out, but I’m thinking about using it full time.

My G303 is starting to show its age. The scroll wheel is degrading and it sometimes double clicks. But I still really love the G303. To bad I can’t just order a new one.

  11. Good thing I discovered that Lady Dimitrescu makes up less than 1/4th of the Resident Evil Village story. The game looks absolutely fantastic, and if you're a fan of the series I'm sure its worth it. For me though, I'll settle for lets plays.

It’s a watch. Not something I look at for long periods of time.
  14. Uhh, you’re wrong because these things called password managers exist. Also IT admin apps that let me reset my users passwords exist.

I think the Apple Watch SE should be $199. I'm…

Sure, but nothing that directly matters imo. It's much faster, has a compass, a screen change, and gets better battery life. The speed is the only thing that I would be benefiting from since I won't really be using any of the new features.
  16. I think the Apple Watch SE should be $199. I'm in the market to replace my Series 2, but $280 seems a bit high considering there are no fundamental changes between a Series 2 and an SE.

Uhhhh ok there. A better screen, better battery life, drastically increased storage and memory, faster, more sensors. But no. Nothing that matters 🙄

If you use AW for fitness with apps like Strava and Apple Fitness, it is worth for a better screen and sensors, but if you just use as a watch it is not worth it.

  17. I hate outlook. Got a user who keeps having this issue where he can't receive any new emails, but he can send emails out....Outlook says its constantly "Syncing Subscribed folders" but once that allegedly finishes nothing ever happens. I tried to unsubscribe from those folders but nothing changed. The next course of action is to create a new profile for that account.....but this keeps happening and has happened on two different computers. It's incredibly frustrating.

Depending on what device you're using, AirPods will be on 2.4GHz and Bluetooth which introduces some interference. My Series 2 Apple Watch only has a 2.4GHz wifi radio and as a result, sometimes I get volume spikes or interference when walking in high interference areas. On other devices with 5GHz, don't have that issue. I can't say I've ever heard other signals getting picked up, but I suppose its possible.

Anyone have any advice on a good starter credit…

I mean in terms of applying for a loan, buying a house, getting an apartment, etc. all of these things are affected by/require a credit score. In order to get a credit score, you have to use a credit card. Is credit a easy way to get into debt? Yes. Is it really easy to not buy shit impulsively and use Credit as a tool to earn cash back and other benefits? Hell yes. I love cash, but I’m an young adult and I’m thinking about my financial future. Credit is an important tool in financial stability.

Like it or not, Credit is a resource that you have to have to be independent. I’m not getting a credit card to spend money I don’t have, I’m getting one to ya know….have credit.

Anyone have any advice on a good starter credit…

Actually, Chase seems to have a Student Credit card with a 15% APR and 0 yearly fees. Plus $50 cashback on first purchase. That might be a good route, I'll ask my Dad later today.

I have literally no credit. I've got a College Checking Account through chase with quite a lot of money in it. Looks like recommended starter cards are not from chase though.
