To be fair, Xperia phones are making a bit of a comeback (at least here in the UK, where in 2017 they held third place for smartphone market share). With Sony dropping the Xperia 1/5 II pricing to £700/600 during Black Friday, quite a few stores actually sold out all of their 5 II stock so the Xperia 1/5/10 series are actually slowly dragging them back to the table. I mean market share wise as of now, they're 6th (in the UK, 7th in Europe), which is about on-par with Motorola/Xiaomi so they're doing okay on this side of the pond. Also, they still do hold almost 10% market share in Japan and is the second largest (Samsung is at 6%) so they could be a lot less popular.

Damn, didn't edit it fast enough 😆😆
Thought he had a £170 budget but its actually 190. Perfectly doable. In fact, you could probably quite easily squeeze a PSU upgrade in as well with 190 😆

This right here. Used i5 (or i7 if you're lucky) Optiplex, 8GB of RAM, small SSD, and used 470/480/570/580.

But OP, if you don't need one right now, save your money.

For £190, you can get a gaming PC but you will have to partially build it yourself to get any kind of decent performance. The GT710 that has, it's going to be close to useless for gaming however, the i5 2400 will be alright .

I'd personally recommend aiming something like a 2nd or 3rd gen i5 alongside a card around the performance of a RX470. You will need to hunt a little but you should be able to quite easily fit that into your budget.

    Define proper components...
A RX470 can be found for approximately £70 which leaves £120 for other components (this is more than the typical price range the 3rd gen i5 dell optiplex with 8gb of RAM falls into). Perfectly doable.

30-pin was back when every manufacturer used their own proprietary connectors so can't say much about not using the "most common" as that didn't exist. Yes, mini-B was a thing but not all that many devices actually used it (especially MP3 players/phones). As for durability, from my limited experience and what I've seen/heard, it failed no more than any other existing connectors back then.

Lightning wise, it's straight up better than micro USB. Yes, type C is a thing but given lightning came out 2 whole years before type C was even published (and almost 3 years before the first device with type C actually came out), you can't exactly call it "dumb" as it was designed to replace 30-pin and make the micro look horribly outdated, and it did do that pretty well.

As a university student, my experience funnily enough is that most people have lightning and micro but not type-C. With close to a 50/50 split for IOS vs non-IOS market share in the UK and the student population leaning quite heavily towards IOS, it probably comes to no surprise that lightning is more plentiful when compared to type-C as you also have to remember that the non-IOS section also includes devices without type-C.

Those proprietary phone connectors were really dumb, but every manufacturer had patented their own connector, micro usb was an upgrade even though those were fragile and the cheap cables never stayed connected.

and I just dont really like proprietary connectors
anyway a cable is cable and are preference of cables differ
and I don't care about it as long as I have said cable

Mr.Meerkat reacted to AluminiumTech in EA rebrands FIFA 20 as FIFA 21 on Nintendo Switch and changes the character roster | Available for $49.99
Our dEaR fRiEnDs at Electronic Arts have decided for the FIFA 21 release on Nintendo Switch, known as FIFA 21 LEGACY EDITION, that they are just going to copy and paste FIFA 20's Nintendo Switch release and change the character roster. That's it. No bug fixes, no new gameplay mechanics, etc.

This means ultimately that this installment in the franchise release on the Nintendo Switch is still using the outdated Ignite game engine from EA last used on PC and Console in FIFA 16.

Reviewers have said this results in the game's character animations being choppy and not as fluid as on EA's Frostbite powered FIFA versions.

This all adds insult to injury as FIFA 20 release on Nintendo Switch was itself the Switch's FIFA 19 release with a new roster and no notable changes.

Yongyea as one of the sources I listed has done some investigating and found that EA has de-listed the older FIFA 19 and FIFA 20 on Nintendo Switch as an attempt to force people to buy FIFA 21 on Nintendo Switch.

The only way to buy FIFA 19 or FIFA 20 on Nintendo Switch now is through physical copies.

This is honestly just a sad joke. How this was accepted last year is beyond unbelievable.

If they wanted to sell new character roster packs I would have not be opposed to that if they had just released FIFA 19 and released FIFA 20's roster as a roster pack for $10 or whatever and then do the same for FIFA 21's roster pack. But no, that would make too much sense and would be too reasonable for consumers.

For EA's Sports based video games, milking their customers for every penny is just barely acceptable enough.

This is truly a disgrace to the video game industry. It's the literal fastfood of video games but at a full price $49.99 price tag.

Unless something has changed recently, the fees are automatically charged at the end of the month, regardless of if the buyers pays them or not (could have always met up in person or smth) so unless either the buyer or seller actually completely cancel the transaction, eBay will charge them the 10% fee.

Yep, I mean if it does get cancelled afterwards, they will get refunded but how many people actually have $8000 on their debit/credit card limit? It could easily end up in a situation where it leads the seller to (massively) exceed their overdraft or negatively affecting their credit score. Of course, this is hypothetical but it could happen.
