alex75871 reacted to circeseye in HDMI patch cable incompatibility?
when it comes to 4k hdr, cable length or type matter. on copper hdmi over 6ft the signal starts to degrade. so if keeping copper you need a booster. other wise its highly recommended to go "optical hdmi" over 6ft.
the screen going black is a symptom of signal degradation
theres a lot more bandwidth going through the cables with 4k. but ive seen older hdmi cables work fine sending 4k video. but again length is the crutch

I just ran into the same problem when I upgraded my parent's projector, they built their house with a home theater in 2005 when HDMI 1.2 was the standard. I replaced the original Sony 1080p projector with a new 4K model and the exact same issue happened, regular HD worked fine but the second you enabled HDR it went blank. I have a new temporary 2.0 cable running from the A/V rack to the projector and everything works but going to have to replace the in-wall run sometime this winter.

The game is working well for some and not so well for others. I have an i7 8700k OC 5 GHz paired with a NVIDIA 1080 and I frequently get FPS drops. I have to restart my game after every campaign mission otherwise I get auto-defeated once the map loads. There are many more issues I have experienced but they are relatively minor in comparison to these two. Other users with different hardware are experiencing much worse. The game is unplayable for some despite their rigs meeting or exceeding the recommended hardware specifications. I will NOT be requesting a refund because I am enjoying the game and I am confident Blizzard will fix the game with upcoming patches.

You can get around it by unplugging your ethernet cable before installing Windows 10, or by unplugging it when at the account screen and then letting the process fail to find or make the new account due to lack of an internet connection. Then it will let a person make a normal local / offline account.

I've seen one fairly convincing use case: For an older person still in their own home. Voice Commands can be very useful to someone with a frail body.
Beyond that, all we've seen is a solution to the biggest structural issue for why 1984 couldn't come to pass: no government could ever afford the amount of cameras & mics necessary for a Big Brother system. Turns out people will willingly put them in their homes if you save them 2 seconds of effort. Is it Big Government or Big Business you should worry about? Answer is "Yes".

Original "leak" is from a chinese forum, with no supporting information.
Intel stopped using White on Blue, they are currently using blue on white on internal roadmaps.
The dollar sign is on the wrong end of the prices, a VERY common mistake with asian faked documents because that is where the yen and yuan symbol are placed with their currency when written out.

You could probably lower those temps by simply replacing the old thermal paste with a new higher quality compound. I have seen as much as 10 degrees celsius difference on an old (4-5 years) server.

Intel has announced a refresh to it's Xeon entry level processors at Computex 2019.
The announcement includes new 8 core SKUs. The previous 2100 series only went up to 6 cores.
"The Intel Xeon E-2200 series is socket compatible with the Intel Xeon E-2100 series. That means it has a similar feature set including PCIe Gen3 support, and PCH functions like USB 3.1 and SATA III ports."
My thoughts: very anticlimactic given AMD's recent announcements.

If ECC is a must, then use Intel Xeon. Yes Zen architecure is ECC is enabled, but there is no validated list of hardware to use and apart from some server and workstation boards for Epyc/Threadripper, pretty much all of the Ryzen boards are consumer grade and you might struggle to find compatible ECC memory.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the US Department of Energy have announced that Frontier is set to be a 1.5 exaflop supercomputer. For comparison, the fastest existing supercomputer is 0.2 exaflop. The supercomputer will be powered exclusively by a future version of AMD EPYC and Radeon Instinct. The new supercomputer scheduled for 2021 will be the most powerful supercomputer in the world. This will do a lot to bolster AMD’s market perception and support.

if your using storage spaces a good amount, id upgrade to 2019 as there are a good amount of improvements.
is canpool false on all those disks? Does any pool show up in get-storagepool?
clear-disk will wipe drives.
-
alex75871 reacted to Electronics Wizardy in Hard Drives visible in Device Manage but not Disk Management
open up powershell and type get-physicaldisk.
Storage spaces hides the physical disks from disk management.
If your using these drives in windows, you probably want to use storage spaces anyways, so just add those drives to your pool.
