I'm not even going to list examples since I have every Nintendo and Sony system since the NES.

The 3 supposed ring leaders of hacking group Team Xecuter have had arrest warrants issued against them in Seattle with the courts calling them leaders of one of the most notorious piracy groups on earth.
Two are currently in custody and the third is facing extradition on 11 felony charges including conspiracy to commit money laundering, trafficking in circumvention devices and wire fraud.

Well RIP anybody who has paid for SXOS I guess. I cannot see them surviving this, at least in their current capacity. I only hope Nintendo don't go after the open source CFW next.

I am bothered heavily by this being for a system that is currently shipping.  If it was, say, NES, or Saturn, which is no longer made, and hasn’t been for years, it would be more problematic.  That people are still making and attempting to market games for switch though more or less takes any historical or archival defense out of it.

Not exactly. Some of us have purchased, legally, all of the requirements for X products and have no longer been able to get them repaired or replaced. Should those purchases simply be thrown to the wayside? No, absolutely not. If I have a genuine console or game and it no longer works I should be able to get a repair. If it's made no longer usable is it my fault? No. If Nintendo will no longer hold repair services, then that responsibility should flip to the general public with no repercussions. You can't call out "lost profits" on games that you no longer support, create, or package in their original formats.

Companies usually get created to serve some of the needs of the consumers in exchange for money, and if you dont want to file for bankruptcy you better keep up with the change in you customers preferences. Calling this basic knowledge BS does not say anything good about you...

There seems to be a lack of explanation of what was done for people who don’t own switches.   It seems they were involved in some sort of switch hack, and there was some sort of financial thing, but other than that I’m finding no details other than indictment claims.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, piracy isn’t stealing.

Losing sales to privacy doesn’t exist, people who pirate weren’t going to buy your game anyways.

You can bet on it that they will. They go after anything that is just a least bit similar to anything they own or threatens their monopoly on their consoles.........

As for this topic its pretty much a waste, others will pickup where this team left and nintendo going to be back where they started.

ARikozuM reacted to Delicieuxz in GoG and EGS' Universal Ownership vision moves ahead as GoG starts community testing of its in-development storefront
In July, GoG and Tim Sweeney announced integration of their platforms for a "seamless and reliable" experience.

At the time, Tim Sweeney said the following:

Those are great words, and ones that would hopefully be fulfilled by corresponding actions.

And actions seem to be corresponding with them a bit right now, as GoG just recently announced that they are beginning community testing of their upcoming new storefront with this statement:

GOG aims to become a universal storefront, has partnered with Epic Games Store

This is a bold and, I think, very good move which, providing all storefronts eventually join-in, will do a lot to ensure the preservation and accessibility of everybody's purchased games.

    My thoughts
There's some claims made by LBRY in their video and on Twitter that this is because Google fears them as a competitor to Youtube, but honestly I don't even think Google knows they exist or would even care about them. They simply aren't big enough to be a concern to Youtube.

From the examples of violations provided in Google's documentation the video does seem to violate their policy, so Google does have grounds to remove it based on the policy. In particular "depictions, animations or illustrations of sex acts, sexually suggestive poses..."

This really sparks a bigger question about whether or not platforms such as this are responsible for the content that is posted by other users and creators on their platform. LBRY allows users to upload videos and it appears that it was this user generated content which caused Google to remove the app. If Google removes apps for user generated content that violates their policies then shouldn't that also apply to their own apps including Youtube? What about movies that are sold on the Play Store that contain sex and nudity?
Some similarities can be drawn between LBRY and Floatplane, so what would happen if a Floatplane creator posted something on Floatplane that violated Google's standards for sexual content and profanity?

I tried finding the video on LBRY's website but either I can't find it or it has been removed by LBRY. As of writing this the app is still removed from the platform. You can [not] find it at this link. I'm sure it won't be long before LBRY is reinstated on the Play Store, especially if they've pulled the offending vidoe, but if it got pulled for this then who knows what else would cause it to get pulled in the future leaving LBRY and other apps in an uncertain state.

Epic did that. They lowered the prices in fortnite when they announced the alternative payment method.

I mean, why wouldn't they? It makes perfect sense.
Epic still earned the same amount per sale, but with a lower price you get more sales. Customers win because they get stuff for cheaper. Epic wins because they get more sales while still having the same profit margins. The only one who lose on it is Apple because they can't just sit on their asses and collects billions of dollars from others work.
