aside from the occasional 'close minded person stuck in the past' the only cases i'm aware of where XP is still being used is on dedicated "retro" rigs, or in medical/industry where a 15 year old machine may still be mission-critical.

manikyath got a reaction from unclewebb in 105% usage cpu
    resource monitor does things oddly..
he may be referring to the cpu clock speed, which takes "base clock" as 100%, so if you have a device with 2GHz base clock, and 3GHz boost clock, the dial will go to "150%".

if i recall... the 'cpu usage' graph does stick to 100% metric... but it may report a single core as "100%" in some places, meaning that you could technically have "400%" usage on a quad core.

manikyath got a reaction from qonqy_fookat in WHEEL BEARING GREASE WORKS AS THERMAL PASTE!!!
to be honest.. depending on the heatsink and just how smooth the surfaces are.. that may be closer to dry temperatures than to paste temperatures.

also, there's more to "it works" than a temperature difference, most somewhat fluid substances that dont have big grains will have some temperature advantage over going dry.
without having personally tested either, i'd dare say that the only reason wheel bearing grease wins from mayonnaise is that it wont rot away from the heat of your cpu.

knowing what Asus does on the intel side of things.. what they are most likely doing is playing more 'loosely' around power targets.

i'd say with confidence that it's not going to break anything, but you can assume that your cpu is going to use a whole lot more power in "asus optimal" mode.

this is the place where i like to mention that if you buy a samsung SSD, samsung has a tool just for this.

but essentially, yes, you plug the new ssd in, you use software to clone your install to the new SSD, you adjust boot priorities in bios, and call it a day.

manikyath got a reaction from Kilrah in windows/users change name?
the folder in c:\users\ will always hold the name it got when the account was first created, renaming the account wont affect the folder name.

the way to 'solve' this, is to create a whole new account, sign into that account, and delete the old one (after copying over your stuf, ofcourse).

the colors of the pwrcmd lines match with lines on a standard 24 pin connector, it's quite easy to reverse engineer.

your problem is these HP units also use +12Vsb instead of +5Vsb line normal ATX units.
even if you could make an ATX power supply fit in the case, you're still stuck with the differing voltages on the stand by rail.

please for the love of god stop using 'bottleneck calculators'

here's how to decide if it's time to upgrade your cpu:
    - are your games reaching the framerates you're hoping to get? => dont upgrade.
    - is your cpu usage very high in games (>80% on all cores the game is utilizing), and gpu usage not at 100%? => upgrade.

    - a different assembly factory.

manikyath got a reaction from Electronics Wizardy in HPE Gen9 with asus hyper m.2 x16 card v2
the solution is buying a pcie card that has a pcie switch like @Electronics Wizardy said.
as for the bays up front.. with Gen8 and newer HP really are arseholes with those, if they dont detect a propper caddy, they dont mount the drive, the chance for getting those to work with nvme in some way is essentially zero. (even though there's options to put pcie on the same connector.. it's exceptionally unlikely to work properly with HP stuff)

manikyath got a reaction from DoctorNick in I need help with something related to case fans
i prefer to put fans which 'share' a task (for example front fans, the fans on an aio, etc.) on a single header, because it makes no sense to ever make them spin different speeds anyways.
a fan splitter cable costs a few bucks off the shelf, some fans include splitters, and there's always the paperclip method if you truly are too cheap

manikyath got a reaction from RTX 3090 in How do I make my own website builder
that's not a website builder, that's just an admin tool.

i suggest you keep using the websites as you're used to them, and look into the API possibilities of the vareous control panels you need to log into for doing this, depending on the possibilities it's possible you can just make a script that does all the steps by API calls and FTP transfers.

also, for optimizing the process of actually making a website.. make a few template websites in your software of choice, let your 'customers' choose a template, and just copypaste content into the chosen template. also, from the little web design knowledge i have, i know it's possible to let the core website files pull its content (images, text, etc.) from an external source, so you could just literally put images in the right folder with the right name, put some text into a file, and call it a day.

important note: this is about driver support, not about running at all.

there's some processor families that dont work at all with windows 10, you're just running on a platform that lacks optimizations to run things properly.
