Abyssal Radon got a reaction from Hans Power in @Freesync/G-Sync monitor owners. Do you limit your Framerate?
My main display has a 165hz maximum refresh rate, and I cap most of my games at 161 fps so I stay within the G-Sync refresh rate window. I don't cap my fps to preserve my GPU, I cap it so the gameplay remains smooth and screen-tear free.

Abyssal Radon reacted to cocotugo in Corsair H100x white LED too bright. easy and dirty fix...
The corsair H100x is a 240mm AIO with fixed lighting, ultrabright white LEDs that emit enough light to serve as a whole room night lamp.
today I decided to do something about it.

this are the steps that I took...

lets see what we can do about it...

first pull the black  trim from the sides

then remove the 2 screws to remove the diffuser

    now we are in!

    That is the PCB

In blue are the components for the cooling
1 is the pump controller IC
    2  are the motor leads

3 is most probably a hall effect sensor to report the RPM

    and now... the culprits....

The LEDs are 12 grouped in pairs, each pair is driven by a transistor (in green)....
to dim the LEDs in the propper way one should change the resistor (also find them) that is connected to the base of each transistor)

after pondering for a few minutes... I decided that it was easier and relatively low risk to put some foam between the PCB and the diffusser

    this is the foam

I pressed the diffusser hard against it to make an outline and then cut it with a blade

the small rectangle is a cutout to let the main controller IC cool a bit more

after reassembly this is the result:

now the corsair logo is dimly lit and has no bleeding in the edges.

obviously... do this at your own risk.

Abyssal Radon got a reaction from Muhlis in Switching M.2 to NVMe: Is It Worth It?
M.2 is a form factor and NVMe is the type of storage interface for the memory. For me NVMe didn’t make a huge difference in day to day tasks, one major improvement is loading icons and document previews, granted my boot drive is a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD. But for loading games, I personally didn’t notice a “game changer”. I’m currently in the process of finding 2.5” SATA SSD’s to replace all of my mechanical drives in my computer, which I’m planning on using for storing games on.

Abyssal Radon got a reaction from thrasher_565 in Is PC gaming going to price itself out of relevancy?
Personally, I believe that owning a 5950X or 5900X, 10900K or 10700K, 3090 or 3080, and 6900XT or 6800XT isn't considered 'main stream' hardware. Like any hobby, you have to pay to get the best performance/experience. nVidia has always been expensive, now I do see your line of thinking. nVidia's last 'best' single GPU for consumers was the GTX 680 with a $499.99 launch price. Which was nearly 9 years ago now, fast forward to today, now your looking at a $1499.99 MSRP for the 3090. So take into account inflation from 2012 to today, ~$567.00 for a GTX 680 compared to a $1499.99 RTX 3090. Anyway, here's the thing, nVidia and AMD both has been testing the waters to see what consumers are willing to pay for the 'best' PC gaming experience so in a sense, its the consumer's willing to pay out the ass for a top skew GPU. But, I don't think prices will cause PC gaming to 'price it's self out of relevancy', not by a long shot.

Also, PC gaming is a hobby, and like many (if not all) hobbies always will contain an 'performance' line up of shit to buy for said hobby. ~$1200-$1500 will get you a kick ass PC gaming experience... and will laugh the current generation of consoles out the door.

Abyssal Radon got a reaction from tishous in Will my Ryzen 5 5600X bottleneck my 3060 ti?
If you can afford a 3070 then go for that. A 5600X will not bottleneck a 3060 Ti or a 3070.

Use DDU, I recently upgraded to a 3080 myself from a 980 Ti. After I ran DDU, everything has been flawless with my 3080.

As an owner of a 1440p 165Hz display, the upgrade is definitely worth it. Probably the best improvement when playing first person shooters. If your mouse works, then stick with what you got (assuming you like it lol).

I'm sorry, but @HelpfulTechWizardis onto something... also OP, welcome to people who do YouTube/content creation for a living. While personally I don't agree with doing something like YouTube for a living as an aspiring career path, it's nice to have some bathroom material to keep your mind off of your business. Oh god, not sure why I went there with the bathroom thingy. OP, why ASUS? There's loads of other sponsors in LTT/LMG video's.

Ltt is a company. They have to make money. For like 20 people. Ad revenue would not cover that. So fullyed sponsored videos have to happen.

Abyssal Radon got a reaction from Hus317 in How do i clean a Gigabyte GTX 1080?
Take pictures of the card as you take it apart carefully. Organize the screws based on the order you removed them. Clean off old thermal compound and replace it, also make sure you replace the thermal pads on the memory while you're going through the hassle to clean the GPU. Afterwards, work backwards, just make sure you are statically discharged and be careful of fan cables ect.
