DND reacted to Pickles - One of the Jar in Is my hard drive done for?
Yeah drive is in really rough shape. I would try to copy off data you need/want. Use something like Unstoppable Copier by Roadkil. It works really good. Point source then destination and go. If it hits a bad sector it just skips and gives you a log afterward.

Only go after the most important data. If you have games but they can be reinstalled ignore them and only go after the save files.

Same for important documents and stuff like that. Go after what is important then replace the disk. You could also attempt a clone of the drive but only AFTER you have grabbed the most important data to you.

Keep in mind that even after a clone you could have damaged files, system may not boot right etc if it is a boot drive.

    Edit:

I really should expand on why the drive cannot be saved:

When a hard drive experiences a bad sector that is an area of the platter that is no longer readable. This can be caused by many things but for whatever reason that area is no longer holding a charge. In regards to the weak sectors these are areas that hold one but have a substantially less of a charge than the surrounding sectors. They will still hold onto data but only just barely. The drive during a reallocation event will attempt to read the data from the weak sectors, put those offline then remap the data to a stock of set-aside sectors given at factory.

Unless you have the ability to force the drive to take those bad sectors and update its G-List (list of bad sectors from factory that are ignored. All drives have them due to platters not being perfect to begin with) there is no way to save the drive. Even if you could I would NEVER trust that drive for anything. This is why I don't buy refurbished drives from Seagate, WD, or any other manufacturer.

Your best bet is to try to get the data off the failing drive you need and replace it. If you have to reinstall the OS it is what it is. Same for downloading any games.

@DND Hope this clears things up.

Yep something like that, I really appreciate it bro. I think I'm slightly leaning into the Mate 10 Pro now because of the battery and not really going into those mainstream brands here that you can always see people have.
Thanks for you in depth explanation bro, I'm also really looking into the P20 Pro but as of now it's not yet offered by my telco provider and it's only still available for pre-order here in the PH. Honestly I can't really afford to dish out a chunk amount of money onto a single purchase so I really want to get it through a postpaid plan. Hopefully by next month it will be offered. I will just gonna wait next month since even if I go for early recontracting I still need to pay the next month's bill so I still have a leeway to way and hope that the P20 Pro would be offered by then.

Well I'm not really that into photography ( Well I might dive into but not that deep), I just want to have at least a good-great camera when I need to take photos like in getting pictures when I watch a e-sports tournament, taking a picture of the love of my life (if I even get one LOLS) along those lines dang even if I get into my artsy side like taking of a picture of the sunset. Yep I tend to tug on them unknowingly when I'm commuting so my headphones tend to break. Never really thought of what to get with the money that will be saved but, Yep I think if i get the Mate 10 Pro I would just go to a good bluetooth headset that is good. BTW if you would rate the S9+ and the Mate 10 Pro from 1-10 how would you rate it?

Hmm the only thing available here that can compete with the S9+ and Mate 10 Pro is from LG but the latest they have is the G6 and Apple they have all the variants but I'm not really a fan of IOS. Hmmm as of now I'm not really looking for something in particular. As of now I'm not doing much on my phone I just tend to use mobile data all of the time when there is no available Wi-Fi where I'm at. I do some light gaming something like Mobile Legends, Watching youtube/twitch on the phone, listening to music that's almost all of that I do when I'm using my phone.

EDIT: BTW does the Mate 10 Pro have expandable storage for sd cards? Forgot to check it up.

I think so I'm not really sure when I can really buy it depends on my mom cause we will be sharing the money to buy it.

Edit: earliest I can buy is this month and longest wait is maybe early march or february.

IMO I'd go for the EVGA. EVGA is known for their better aftermarket service and EVGA cards are pretty solid IMO.

1800x doesn't really overclock much better than the 1700, maybe on average it OCs 50 MHz better or a little over 1%. Honestly, IMO that's not worth the extra money .

Its been generally agreed on that the 1800x is not worth it at all. The 1700 is pretty much the one that is worth it. You could make an argument for the 1700x though I personally don't think it's worth it. The more you know

Well if that's the case then the 1700 would be to go for :). I haven't watched videos  about the updates regarding on overclock so thanks for letting me know. I am also planning on upgrading my CPU so this information is very helpful.

Change the case maybe find some alternative case that you like with a lower price? and change the motherboard too since you're only getting a non k cpu getting a z170 wouldn't be much of use maybe get something like a h170 and b150 board there are much cheaper options there.

I think you won't need the Hue+ for the sleeved led kit. But as far as i know the if you get the NZXT Hue+ it already comes with 3 led magnetic led strips i think but it isn't the sleeved one but for color adaption the hue+ would be great cuz it's rgb. As for the sleeved kits i think for powering it up you could just use some molex plugs to connect it to the power supply or it would already come with one.  https://www.nzxt.com/products/lighting-kit https://www.nzxt.com/products/hue-plus here's the link for the hue+ and the sleeved kits.

No prob. If you're on a budget the nzxt sleeved kits would be good to get or you can check out some led kits on cablemods if they have some good deals on lighting solutions.
