Logun reacted to Middcore in I"m worried this joke is going to far / too long
I believe he's referring to a tweet of Linus's today where he was like "ugh Madison is here" keeping up the joke that he can't stand her.

The truth, of course, is that if she actually annoyed Linus that much he wouldn't have just hired her to move to BC and come work for him.

I know a lot of us like Madison but I think at this point the best thing for her success with LMG is to just stop talking about her all the time and let her settle in and do her job. I know LMG's usual policy is that new hires don't appear on camera for several months in case things don't work out. In this case it's awkward because there's a whole segment of the audience that are already Madison fans, I can see how it would make her feel a lot of pressure on top of what she's already feeling starting a new job at a company she's wanted to join for a long time. Can we just chill?

You can get something like https://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9B-15-124-170&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleBiz-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleBiz-PC-_-pla-_-Add-On+Cards-_-9B-15-124-170&gclid=CLT5s6TBrNMCFc5hfgodMPYDtw

However, there's no appreciable benefit going beyond SATA 6 Gbps speeds for applications.

    Hello,

Next year might be the school year where my child begins to come home by themselves. As such I'm beginning to look into electronic door locks and cameras. There doesn't seem to be much in the ways of reviews on the internet so I thought I would check here to see if anyone has first hand experience with these products. Any information to get me started would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Logun reacted to Oshino Shinobu in How do I use a NAS?
For the most part, NAS boxes like that are plug and play. They'll come with directions, but they're fairly easy to set up, and most of the time can be configured via a webpage, similar to router configuration. You don't have to use one of those, you can essentially just use a PC as a NAS by installing some NAS software on it, either over an OS, or as the OS (FreeNAS). That's a bit more involved though, so one of the boxes may be better for you.

Some of them will allow things like Plex to be installed and run, so it can be used to stream content using that media server/player platform, or you can just essentially use it as external storage. I'd recommend having a look round on youtube for guides on NAS setup and use.

I did win a Borderlands Pre Sequal code through twitter. That was kinda cool. I nearly gave it away though because they just said it was a borderlands key so I thought it was BL1 lol.

my name is X from XXX and my zip code is XXXXX (staff'll love you for the foresight). I'd like to let the senator know that I do not support the FCC's recently passed plan to allow telcoms to alter bandwidth speed on a per-content-provider basis. Further, please let the senator know that I rise in support of reclassification of internet service providers under Title II entities.

Make sure your representatives know in very clear terms that you do not suppose this.

Logun got a reaction from Hazorazor in *CLOSED* G-SYNC Module Giveaway
I've been debating for some time as to what direction I'd like to go in terms of PC display. Two years ago I bit the bullet and got a Dell U3011 2560x1600 30" IPS monitor and it was a thing of beauty. The IPS had colours which were like nothing I had experienced before - but the resolution brought on its own set of problems. Most games do not scale their text with the resolution, this means text heavy games become difficult to read.
So now I'm turning my attentions to refresh rate vs resolution. 4K would be awesome but it is limited to 30Hz until HDMI 2.0. ASUS 144Hz monitors would be cool, but they would still suffer from the age old tearing problems when vsync is not enabled.
Cue the G-Sync revolution... I hope
I've got the GPU horse power needed from my TITAN, although I'll probably have to overclock my i7-2600K from its current stock speeds.
As well my games library runs deep to ensure we won't see 5 of the same reviews all about how G-Sync impacts FPS's.
    Batman: AA
    Darksouls
    Starcraft II
    Total War: Shogun II
    Civilization V
    Borderlands 2
    Far Cry 3
    Hawken
    Mechwarrior Online
    HAWX
    DOOM
    Wing Commander
Because we still play the classics too
So why me? I'm keen, excited and hopefully I know what I'm doing.

Logun reacted to LinusTech in *CLOSED* G-SYNC Module Giveaway
I've seen so much debate on the forum about G-SYNC with many of you saying "Linus is fangirling, this technology is pointless" and many of you saying "G-SYNC is the greatest thing ever".

The one thing (as far as I can tell) that you all seem to agree on is that you really want to try it to see it with your own eyes.

Now's the time. FIVE forum contributors will be chosen to participate in a G-SYNC preview. There are a few rules though.

Rule #1 - This giveaway is for FORUM CONTRIBUTORS ONLY. No one post wonders will be allowed to participate, and we will be carefully auditing post timestamps and counts of entrants to ensure that these modules will ONLY be going out to people who were already active members of the community BEFORE we said we were giving these kits away.

The rest of these rules are from NVIDIA themselves:

o   Must be qualified DIYer and contributor to your forums or site
o   The kit cannot be resold
o   The recipient must already have an Asus VG248QE monitor - NO OTHER MONITORS ARE SUPPORTED BY THE G-SYNC KIT AT THIS TIME
o   The recipient must perform the modification
o   The recipient must provide feedback on his/her G-SYNC gaming experience
o   The give-away is only available in the US and Canada.  The kit is not intended/suitable for end-user use or sale elsewhere.

Please post (200 words or less) why you think you should qualify to receive a G-SYNC module and how you plan to use it, and please keep the clutter out of this thread. We will pick winners as we see compelling posts come through so the giveaway will be closed once we've already given away all 5 of them.

The troll answer in me wants me to say that I don't let my toddler son watch Looney Tunes because I'm scared he's going to grow up and drop a smithy anvil on someone.

But the truth of the matter is that children know the difference between cartoon violence and real violence. I forget the source but the the quote went something like if violence in video games correlate to real life violence then I guess we can blame Candy Land for child hood diabetes and obesity.

One can argue the same applies for video games. Yes they are an interactive medium but I still believe the majority of mentaly healthy gamers know the difference.

I can neither argue for nor against US gun laws as I don't truly believe either side is correct. IMO the flaw is that people are abusing what their "right" is and taking things to an extreme. (no sorry I don't believe you need any kind of assault rifle for your collection...)

I would venture the greater argument comes from the graphics becoming more realistic. To me that is the bigger issue. It isn't "how realistic is the gun my character is carrying" it becomes "How realistic do the people I shoot look and act"
