Likwid got a reaction from Vishera in The HD 7970 is the GPU supported for the longest time in history
I think it was renamed to 280x then 380x and then something in 400 series (not sure about last one).

Likwid reacted to Benji in Any Noticeable Differences Between the 4500U vs 4700U?
He misspelled in the title, these are ALL Ryzen 4000 chips.
No, it isn't faster than the 4500U or 4700U. And in multi-threaded apps the 4700U should kick the others butt. The 4300 is a 4C4T CPU, the 4500U is a 6C6T CPU and the 4700U is an 8C8T CPU. Too bad they don't have the 4600U 6C12T or 4800U 8C16T. While neither will be slow, SMT still can make a difference. Especially on a quad-core CPU. I would probably lean towards the 4700U Acer model.

Likwid reacted to jagdtigger in Developer warns VR headset damaged eyesight
Yep, only way to reduce negative impact if they somehow make a VR headset that can give the VR world "depth" and wider view angles so our eyes have to focus just like in the real world.

Likwid reacted to mariushm in Safe way to adapt a 4 pin CPU to an 8 pin?
Just plug the 4 pin connector into the 8 pin header ... it should work fine, if you don't have a very power hungry processor.
The 4 pin connector is good up to something like 150-180 watts, and even a 6 core Ryzen 1600 only consumes up to 100-120 watts.

Likwid reacted to GDRRiley in When are the Ryzen processors rumored to come out?
3300g won't be coming out.
any reason your grabbing the 3200g over a 3100x or 3300x? both are better chips if you got a GPU

Likwid reacted to jj9987 in Workstations/pcs that support a single Xeon E5 2600 v3 series CPU?
You need a motherboard with LGA2011-3 socket and C612 chipset. X99 motherboards might also work with Xeon E5-16xx v3 and E5-26xx v3 CPUs, but double-check the motherboard supported CPU list first. If you want to use ECC RAM, the motherboard has to support it too.
As mentioned above, the v3 and v4 generation Xeons are quite bad value (and old), unless you get a great deal on eBay or similar, compared to Ryzen. But of course, feature set might be different if you are planning for some very Intel-specific workload.

https://www.newegg.com/powercolor-radeon-rx-560-axrx-560-4gbd5-am/p/N82E16814131725R
On the PowerColor site I do see it mentioned having multiple video outputs though.
https://www.powercolor.com/product?id=1503986321#spe
Keep in mind it's sometimes possible to find RX 470 or 570 cards for 50-70 USD too. Might be worth it over the RX 560.

Likwid reacted to vanished in What makes a computer "Snappy"?
A good CPU and fast storage like an SSD. I think those two pretty much cover it, assuming we can ignore strange edge cases like not having enough RAM for basic tasks. It's incredible how much a lack of either makes a system feel bloated and old. Nothing else is going to have much of an impact though. Your power supply is either sufficient or not - a better one won't make things quicker. Your motherboard isn't going to have any noticeable impact on performance. Same story with the monitor, peripherals, etc.
