I wish my friends would ask me to build computers for them.  I just want to build everything.

This one time in 9th grade I was on the computer in my English classroom and I copied a PowerPoint slideshow to my flash drive.

My English teacher says something along the lines of "Did you just put that on your thumb drive without opening it in PowerPoint?"

    I was like "Uhh...yeah."

"Really?  Are you sure it saved?"

    "..."

Apparently moving the file itself was a strange concept.  Apparently a lot of people think you have to open the PowerPoint and Save As to somewhere else.

Here's one I forgot about: when I first built my rig I showed a photo (side panel open) to a couple of my younger cousins.  One of them goes "YOU OPENED YOUR COMPUTER!?"

    I facepalmed so hard.

Car owners don't have to know the ins and outs of an internal combustion engine, but if you can't at least change a flat tire then I feel like that's a problem.

I feel the same way about computers.  Computer users don't have to know the intricacies of the x86 microarchitecture, but I feel they should at least be able to manage a driver update or something.

Sure, many people want to buy a device and have it just work, just like many people would love to just hop in a car and drive and not worry about anything.  But I feel like it's advantageous for everyone to learn at least the basics.

Walking back to my dorm the other day I heard some random girl say

"iOS7 is SO different, like overwhelmingly different, like I couldn't figure out how to answer a phone call."

Come on.  Are normal people really incapable of adjusting to a UI change?

"Post-PC era"  Because tablets and smartphones aren't computers?  What are they then?

People calling a flash drive "a USB" gets on my nerves a little.

I've begun to really dislike the terms 720p and 1080p, or anything-p.  Interlaced vs. Progressive isn't even relevant anymore.  Just say the resolution.

    "Macs don't get viruses."  <_<

"Retina Display"  <_< Apple's watered down the term so much that it actually doesn't mean anything anymore.  Yet people still consider it a feature.

When people "upload" something to their hard drive/flash drive.

I could probably go on but I'll leave it here for now.
