PerfectTemplar got a reaction from Technous285 in Optus THREATENS to shut off Cable users in NBN-Ready Area's.
Lol, well I believe in tax payer funded public health care that includes Dental for over 18s, cheap and accessible education, higher standard of living, higher wages/ much higher minimum salary, better welfare benefits for disadvantaged, better infrastructure including free fibre for all, more investment in software development including games development (greens policy), better climate change policy, I could go on and on. All of this can be paid for by the rich. A lot of people dismiss Greens policy as a joke, it's actually not lmao.

EDIT: Also wanted to say, the Greens propose no increase to taxes on the average person. People earning over $200,000 AUD per year should have their medicare levy increased, the tax system needs to be improved to avoid loopholes and companies like Google need to be paying the billions they owe instead of sending profits offshore to avoid it.

The G9 Consortium which included Optus did make up a new proposal after that, which was also rejected.

The 30% isn't all from Labor =\ they had only completed less than 20% by the 2013 election. Which was only about a year behind schedule. I have shown sources, that irrelevant wiki page has sources, if you don't know how to use wikipedia by now I have no idea how you're going to make it in this world.

The reason that RFS date is relevant is because the Coalition cancelled all of Labors contracts, that date indicates it was started after the Coalition implemented their policy.

    30 Sep 2016  Build Commenced
    04 Mar 2017  RFS

    :L

EDIT: Heres the alternative to me linking the wiki page with all the sources, I do what you should know how to do and do this.

Are you from Australia? Because this is a bit more complicated than just bad for tech..

It's pretty damn good for tech actually, really good place to work and plenty of places to work in the IT industry. AWS, Google and Microsoft among them. A few areas of our broadband infrastructure being replaced by FTTC which will cause cable connections to have to either be replaced by IPTV or Satellite isn't a big deal.

PerfectTemplar got a reaction from frost3y in Optus THREATENS to shut off Cable users in NBN-Ready Area's.
Well, it's not news for one (cut off for cable and ADSL deadline was provided years ago), and secondly. It's way more expensive for both Optus and NBN to keep that network running. The whole idea of the NBN is for people to use it in order to pay it off. 100/40 available on NBN is better anyway. What you said about 40Kbps download and 2Kbps upload is actually just nonsense. What you're referring to is congestion which is fixed by not going on Dodo for $10 a month. Yes NBN need to reduce their CVC charges more, something which they are actively doing. However for the price Optus charge for their cable services people can pay for an uninterrupted 100/40 connection through the NBN which is better for the environment as it uses way less power and it's more cost effective to run.

The issue of people's pay tv connections through Optus cable being cut off is not actually an issue? The same services will still exist, just over different technologies.

    @kiska3 Don't assume he's correct.

PerfectTemplar got a reaction from leadeater in NBN co Announces first Fibre-to-the-curb Suburbs
Those speeds are available to RSPs in Australia already but for some reason NBN is charging ridiculous CVC costs (like $23/Mbit). Once these are inevitably reduced the RSPs will start providing it. MyRepublic in Australia is pushing for 1000/400 plans to be available this year. (Same price)

EDIT: It's slowly being reduced, from NBN site.

nbn introduced the industry average discount model for CVC last year. This move saw the effective unit price per Mbps drop from $17.50 to $15.75 in June 2016. This was followed by a further reduction to $15.25 in December 2016.

And i though Australia had it bad at $869.70 USD, Indians are paying $1k+ USD! Surely they can see prices shouldn't be dictated by the American $ anymore it's getting out of control! 1080 is almost unobtainable by most let alone what the 1080ti is going to cost.

PerfectTemplar got a reaction from JAKEBAB in Indian Customers hitting hard on NVIDIA for its insane pricing of 1080 Graphics card
Yep, Australia has some excuse for slightly increased pricing on hardware (NOT VIDEO GAMES) due to GST and potential stocking/shipping costs (even though 870 USD is still too high for that). But damn India really gets the short end of the stick, especially when you consider how their average income is SO much less than ours.

That's not Nvidia's fault that people buy the stock and resell it inflated.. Nvidia don't make anything more from that. Also, it's a bit childish to want Nvidia to not let anyone buy it and have to wait to manufacture more until everyone can. You know they make an amount they know they'll sell so they can then make more with money they make right?
