New In Box Reservoir Body Developed Spider Cracks

So went to check on my res body bc of planning something as it was sitting on my shelf on top of some other stuff for a couple months. Now it seems there is a circle of spider cracks most likely due to just laying down in the box for a while. How fragile lol. Will most likely still use it for my build as I have used another res body full of spider cracks with no worries. Just weird to see this.

There is clearly something wrong with your storage location or your method of handling in general. This is not normal.

Idk dude it stays on the shelf right there. Haven’t touched it in a while.

70-80. Live in California so it gets pretty warm, but the shelf usually remains sorta cold to the touch.

Was it sitting against some foam or other material it looks like it was chemically effected.

looks like a heat gun circle, and or odd alcohol damage.  not sure what would cause it.

i agree with W-L that it was likely some sort of reaction to sitting on some thing,  seeing how its a circle and doesn't extent the entire length

i would assume that it would be quite obvious (due to the shape)  If you were able to help identify this we could help determine how severe the  damage may be. and how to avoid it in the future.

It's just wrapped in the factory plastic bag and is inside the koolance box. I took it out one time to polish it with Meguiar's PlastX, but it don't suppose the polish would've caused any chemical damage as I've used it on many acrylic parts for PC builds and such.

without reading the back label that might cause eye/skin irritation i couldn't say for sure either-way. But thats a red flag for me.

Also since you say this 'is normal'   for an acrylic tube in your possession. If  you also wiped it with this stuff, did you think that maybe it is the stuff?   since i don't think  most parts on a car are solid acrylic, even though it does fall into their vague category of 'clear soft/rigid plastic'

*so i mis read some stuff..   there maybe be a difference in the acrylic composition since a tube is likely extruded while a face plate is like laser cut/CNC'ed

Hard to say since it seems isolated, was it ever clean with isopropyl if you leave it on acrylic it can cause micro fractures in the material overtime.

if you even clean it with alcohol, it makes it more susceptible (brittle)   not over time, although continued exposure is even worse*
