Dear user of hotmail.co.uk!

I am a spyware software developer.
Your account has been hacked by me in the summer of 2018.

I understand that it is hard to believe, but here is my evidence:
- I sent you this email from your account.
- Password from account {MYEMAIL}@hotmail.co.uk = abcdef    < It really says that as my password but it is not XD but i remeber entering that on some websites as my password so maybe it is from a website using my info to send me an email to scare me?????

The hacking was carried out using a hardware vulnerability through which you went online (Cisco router, vulnerability CVE-2018-0296).

I went around the security system in the router, installed an exploit there.
When you went online, my exploit downloaded my malicious code (rootkit) to your device.
This is driver software, I constantly updated it, so your antivirus is silent all time.

Since then I have been following you (I can connect to your device via the VNC protocol).
That is, I can see absolutely everything that you do, view and download your files and any data to yourself.
I also have access to the camera on your device, and I periodically take photos and videos with you.

At the moment, I have harvested a solid dirt... on you...
I saved all your email and chats from your messangers. I also saved the entire history of the sites you visit.

I note that it is useless to change the passwords. My malware update passwords from your accounts every times.

I know what you like hard funs (adult sites).
Oh, yes .. I'm know your secret life, which you are hiding from everyone.
Oh my God, what are your like... I saw THIS ... Oh, you dirty naughty person ... :)

I took photos and videos of your most passionate funs with adult content, and synchronized them in real time with the image of your camera.
Believe it turned out very high quality!

So, to the business!
I'm sure you don't want to show these files and visiting history to all your contacts.

Transfer $814 to my Bitcoin cryptocurrency wallet: 1GXazHVQUdJEtpe62UFozFibPa8ToDoUn3
Just copy and paste the wallet number when transferring.
If you do not know how to do this - ask Google.

My system automatically recognizes the translation.
As soon as the specified amount is received, all your data will be destroyed from my server, and the rootkit will be automatically removed from your system.
Do not worry, I really will delete everything, since I am 'working' with many people who have fallen into your position.
You will only have to inform your provider about the vulnerabilities in the router so that other hackers will not use it.

Since opening this letter you have 48 hours.
If funds not will be received, after the specified time has elapsed, the disk of your device will be formatted,
and from my server will automatically send email and sms to all your contacts with compromising material.

I advise you to remain prudent and not engage in nonsense (all files on my server).

Good luck!

Spoofing or Ghosting an email is not really that hard to do.

I wont reveal how but you can send me an email that looks as though it came from my email.

As for the rest its a scam. If you feel you really have been compromised I suggest nuking your system yourself then go in from another machine or whatnot and start changing your account passwords. And add 2fa if possible just so you know it wont happen again.

Hope that helps some.

If by nothing else, the grammar alone will tell you it's a scam.

A few porn sites and other sites were hacked and databases with the usernames and passwords/ password hashes are publicly available.

So they just take the email addresses and the passwords you used to login on some of the websites with leaked databases and send you scary emails in order to trick you to send money... you weren't hacked or anything.

here's my copy ...  i know the password i used only on a porn site and it was used to upload some "promo content" for a company

I don't actually have a web cam attached to the computer so it's extra confirmation they're full of shit and the mail is pure text in my email client (thunderbird)

And as a tip you can always copy sequences of words that sound sort of unique to the message and search for them to see if others report the same message as spam or hack or whatever, in my case I can focus on "straight to purpose" which would probably show up rarely in normal conversation. So you can google it and see how many results there are : google link

I know XXXXXXXX is your pass word. Lets get straight to purpose. You don't know me and you are probably wondering why you are getting this mail? No-one has compensated me to check about you.

In fact, I actually installed a malware on the adult video clips (pornography) web-site and there's more, you visited this site to have fun (you know what I mean). When you were watching video clips, your browser initiated working as a Remote control Desktop having a key logger which provided me access to your display screen and web camera. Just after that, my software collected your entire contacts from your Messenger, Facebook, and e-mail . And then I made a double video. First part displays the video you were viewing (you have a nice taste : )), and second part shows the view of your cam, yea its you.

There are not one but two choices. Shall we understand each of these solutions in details:

1st option is to just ignore this e mail. Then, I will send your very own video recording to each one of your personal contacts and then just imagine concerning the embarrassment you feel. And likewise if you happen to be in an intimate relationship, precisely how it will eventually affect?

Number 2 option should be to give me $3000. Lets call it a donation. As a consequence, I most certainly will without delay eliminate your video footage. You could continue your life like this never took place and you would never hear back again from me.

You will make the payment through Bitcoin (if you don't know this, search "how to buy bitcoin" in Google).

BTC Address to send to: 1DzFxhF8fMULxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
[CASE-SENSITIVE, copy and paste it]

In case you are thinking about going to the law enforcement officials, very well, this e mail can not be traced back to me. I have taken care of my steps. I am not attempting to ask you for money a whole lot, I would like to be rewarded.

You have one day to pay. I have a unique pixel within this e mail, and at this moment I know that you have read through this e mail. If I do not get the BitCoins, I will definately send your video to all of your contacts including close relatives, coworkers, and many others. However, if I receive the payment, I will erase the video immediately. If you really want proof, reply Yes! & I will certainly send your video to your 8 friends. It is a non:negotiable offer thus don't waste my personal time & yours by responding to this email message.

Don't worry, it's just a low-life fucktard.

Here are a few details that may ease your worries.

I've received the same email from an box use publicly on a single technical forum and that is linked to nothing.

It targetted one of my hundred of aliases with an alleged password I would not use to protect confetti. (I would be ashamed to use such a weak one)

The real one is 16+ and next to impossible to type on a keyboard (password managers are a thing).

I have one email address and one password for each contact. (With a few exceptions)

My router is not made by Cisco.  At the time of the alleged hack, there were only Unix machines on this network.

My first windows machine (the only one even remotely vulnerable) has been build and installed in October.  Its sole purpose is assets cooking as to my despair UE4 is more stable on Windows than on Linux.

It has no access to email and barely to web (I'm writing this using a secure remote connection to a Linux system, the only one with email capabilities)

I have a camera,  it has never been plugged.

Given the message, the culprit is likely from central Europe even if the mail seems to have been originated from Mauritius.

If that waste of carbon had anything, he would at least give a real name ? A friend name (from all these "chats") The name of thee machine ? The name of the account on said machine ?

No ?

That's what I thought.

Feeling better?

This is a well known scam as of recently.  Basically, people have collected up leaked email addresses and passwords that they then send to you from somewhere else, using tricks to make it look like it came from your email when in fact it did not, in hopes that will be enough to convince people to pay them.

The poor grammar along will tell you its not being written by someone who speaks English as a first language, this looks like it has gone through something like google translate.

I'm fairly safe in saying that no-one I know has a Cisco router at home, I certainly don't, I don't have a webcam, and I don't use my desktop for adult stuff. I have an iPad for that. (not its only purpose might I add)

It's more along the lines of it being someone who doesn't quite grasp the english language, which most of the time would be Chinese, Indian etc. They rely heavily on social engineering to get what they want.

I love getting those e-mails sent to an e-mail that doesn't really exist so when they say "here's proof, check the e-mail" they're "sending it" from an e-mail address that doesn't exist. ?
