Looking for a laptop, know what I need but not sure if it exists

Hello LTT community! Been a discord member for a while, but just joined the forums. I know what I want/need in a laptop, but unfortunately I am not coming up with much. More pairs of eyes the better, eh?

What I want:

17" Screen

Core iX series processor

8 Hr battery life at the minimum

Dedicated Graphics and/or TB3

 

Im not above buying old devices so long as they meet the above criteria, I dont have a particular budget at the moment either. Excited to see what you all come up with!

Generally the gaming series laptops have these specs and such, as for an SD card reader, a USB adapter will come in handy as many laptops have started to ditch them

The issue there is battery life, as far as I have seen there isnt a gaming laptop that gets 8+ hours on a charge

6 hours on a battery. That's really good for a gaming laptop, but under what is usable for my use-case. Appreciated for trying though!

No worries man! I do believe there are laptops out there that do have 8 hours of laptop life but they seem to be under spec'd in other aspects for what you're looking for

hmm you could get a thin gaming laptop and just shove the powerbank in your backpack somewhere i guess

also can you be more specific on the specs you want cause there is a big difference between something like an i3 and a 1050 vs i7 and 1070

What do you plan on doing with it during those 8hrs of battery life, no laptop that has a dedicated GPU will ever last  8hrs in games, do you just plan on using it for school/work then keeping it plugged in while gaming? also basically no laptops have SDCARD readers, you may get away with a microsd on some models though

or just use it for 6 hours then use your phone for the remaining 2

 

plus if you do all power saving things, it might last a bit more then 6 hours

Thats far less important really. As long as it is a modern core iX processor it's enough for me. My current laptop is a 2 gen old u series dual core and it's plenty. I will say, cheaper is better

8 hours of basic use (Web browsing, youtube, discord, multitasking with Firefox and Word). I know no laptop will last 8 hours gaming, and I don't expect it to. Ill omit SD card reader if theyre really that rare now a days

What about something like n870ep6. Battery life isnt 8 hours, but the battery is removeable.

Where are you from? Usage? Low end dGPU also fine to you?

TB3 is going to cost more

United States, College and Content Creation (light use of Premier and Photoshop with 1080p footage). Low end dGPU is more than fine. TB3 is sadly still a premium feature, but I really would like it

Maybe an AW17 with 99Wh battery and with Optimus+without GSync. TBH it's very difficult to find a 17 inch laptop with TB3
