Why do people hate the FX-8350?

Every time someone finds out I'm running an FX based system in 2018 their response is negative, or they respond asking "When do you plan on upgrading?"

I love my FX-8350 and never really had issues with it. 

Why don't people like it?

If you're satisfied with it, that's all it matters.

 

But the reason why it isn't popular is because it is old and outdated to the point an Intel current gen PENTIUM can outperform it.

because FX in general is bad

 

i mean the 8350 is as good as an old core i7 2600 in  (very)modern titles, but in anything else its just a whole lot worse. there is just a general stigma against anything fx.

The FX-8350 was actually not that bad when it first came out, but in games it had lesser performance than Sandy and Ivy Bridge. That was mainly due to the Bulldozer architecture which had very limited FP performance. The original Bulldozer CPUs like the 8150 were actually really terrible and worse than the Phenom II in terms of IPC.

Becouse there are better cpus these days. It's not bad, it just has a high heat and power use. But if you're satisfied with it, it's fine. I have a 6410 that runs 60 degrees on idle, but the system is still doing fine

Because intel CPUs 8 years ago outperformed it, so imagine now...lol

They weren't very good, especially for games and in terms of power consumption - but if it works fine for you there's no reason to upgrade.

 

They're completely obsolete now though, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone today.

The hex core 1100T gets edged out by the quad core 980....interesting.

A few years late to be picking up on this information....but interesting

dont feel bad, I'm still running a Core 2 Quad 6600  (upgrading after the first of the year hopefully..)

It's single core performance is just over half that of modern CPU's like the 9700k and Ryzen 7 2700x. It's really slow.
