Recommended Posts

Hey guys the title says it all, after windows update i can't use windows taskbar search. BTW iv'e disabled all of the privacy settings and telemetry by using Baranacules tutorial.

I Also fixed this the first i experienced this when windows updated after i restarted my pc by using system restore but now doing a system restore won't fix it.

do you mean search won't appear when you click it or does typing in search do nothing?

if it's the second one and you disabled search indexer that might be why.

the search bar is there but when i type in anything nothing appears, and when i press windows key and try to type nothing happens also. I tend to open my apps and games via windows search so that my desktop space is clear.

did you disable cortana? afaik search is tied to cortana

I disabled the ink, speeching, type on windows privacy settings but i think cortana isn't disabled unless it's also tied to cortana. I tried searching for fixes on YT but all of the tutorials didn't work also when i try to search for cortana's process in task manager it doesn't show up.

There is something going on saying that the update randomly deletes your files. And during the update, might have removed the folder for your taskbar. Click Windows button, search onto "Windows Update" (If you have a bypass to it) and click "View update history" and press "uninstall a update"

Hmm, I'll try to check I just did a full clean install of windows cuz I was going nuts on trying to figure out on how to fix it and couldn't find a solution. As of now if i restart or shutdown my pc windows will update again hopefully it would not happen again if it does I'll try your suggestion. BTW what specifically update file name should I look for?
