What further upgrades do I need?

Thank you

A higher frequency CPU with your budget will give you more performance. Getting the i7-7700k and OC'ing it will make a difference. That said you should keep your eyes open on used 1080Ti's, they can be found at great deals and once you sell your CPU and GPU you probably will nearly break even on getting a 1080Ti.

I'm thinking right around a $200-400 bucks...

Either I do a CPU change probably an I7-6700k / 2nd hand MSI GTX 1080TI or a Trident 2x8 16 3000mhz RGB RAM? (I can only afford 1 category)

Thank you

Depends on what games you are playing. BTW what games are you playing?

I'd get an i7-7700k, faster RAM doesn't have much of a difference on Intel systems. And then you can sell your CPU and get some money.
