Ryzen 2600X on B450 - BSOD when virtualization is enabled

Hey guys!

 

I just finished building my new home rig with some nice specs and I came across 2 problems. I am new to this forum so tell me if you need more info.

 

I have this PC:

- MSI B450 Gaming Plus (ATX, last BIOS, no OC)

- AMD Ryzen 5 2600X with stock cooler

- 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000

- Windows 10 Pro x64

 

On stock UEFI config, everything is stable BUT my RAM is detected as 2133Mhz. I needed to enable the A-XMP profile to get them at 2933Mhz only. I didn't find where to make custom profiles and I know nothing about the other things.

 

So, now with XMP profile enabled, the system is very stable and fast.

 

Then, when I enable SVM (AMD Virtualization), the system boot and Blue Screen after like 2-3min even sometimes before that. The error says:

SERVICE ERROR
AMDRyzenMasterDriver.sys

I had installed Ryzen Master at the beginning but when it was useless for me I uninstalled it. Virtualization was not enabled before I uninstalled the software. Now, this error occurs every time virtualization is on.

 

Now, this is getting me crazy because I need VMware to work. I really don't want to reinstall Windows again.

 

Does anyone have any ideas?

It seemed more stable just with the software installed. But then after 5min, it BSOD.

Yes, everything is up-to-date. AMD Chipset and MSI drivers are installed.

 

I am trying disabling the HPET.

Well, seems like I will have to reinstall.

 

Screw that I'll live without my VMs. Disabling HPET doesn't help.

 

I should never have installed Ryzen Master.

Sorry for not being much of a help. I don't really have experience with Ryzen. Your best bet is to contact someone on the AMD forums and see if they can help you.

Have any idea how to clock my RAM at the right speed?

It differs from BIOS to BIOS but, there should be an Advanced tab where you can set the A-XMP profiles and timings.

If you can send a picture of the BIOS I'm sure we can figure it out.

There's a LOT of settings and I know nothing about timing and everything. I just used the 2933Mhz XMP profile that was already there and supported by my RAM.

Setting the XMP profile is usually enough.

Problem is that there are so many variations of that BIOS that I can't exactly look up how it looks/works.

You should be able to hit F7 then go to the Memory section for overclocking.

Ryzen can't set 3000 MHz because of shenanigans. 2933 is the closest unless you want to try 3066

It does look like this in "Easy Mode" but I always use the Advanced Mode (F7).

What is the higher I can get with my RAM? Is it overclock-able to 3066 without damaging it?

You'll have to test that yourself it depends on your RAM

I don't have much experience with RAM overclocking but your timings are in place with that XMP profile.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah that's why I didn't count that as a problem. I was just curious because I pay for 3000Mhz and can't even use it all.

 

Fortunately I won't overclock my CPU. It sounds even harder on that board. The "Game Mode" just sets the base clock at 4.05Ghz. It doesn't really OC.

Auto OC is usually pretty bad and, yeah I'm not a big fan of that BIOS either.

RAM gets super complicated with all the timings and stuff that can be modified. If you really want 3066 just increase the multiplier by .25 or whatever the least amount you can is but I doubt 2933 to 3066 would be a large difference.

If you bought an Intel system you could set 3000 but because of Ryzen shenanigans (I think you can't set the RAM base thing to 100 MHz only to 133 or something) 3000 isn't possible except on a couple high end boards that let you modify the system wide BCLK

No need to mess around with any of that. Just enable A-XMP and, you'll be set.

If you want to solve the Virtualization problem, just contact AMD on their forums. I'm sure they can help you.

It's barely a difference anyways. Like less than 2.5% higher frequency.

In some antivirus softwares, there is virtualisation fonctionnality. disable it and it should work. I searched for hours searching to fix it, I had SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bsod, checked everything in bios, did a lot of tricks. I uninstalled Avast and it worked, but you can also disable virtualisation in avast. Also disable completely HYPER-V fonctionnality by going to Add Remove Programs the Add Remove Windows Functionnalities.
