As long as the wire can carry the current that the device needs, then there's no problem. And Molex 4-pins, at least compliant ones, are capable of carrying up to 11A of current, which at 12V is 132W. That's more than plenty for a 6-pin adapter.

that's the problem, I don;t know whether it's compliant or not.
