Asus announces ROG 27" 1440p 120hz+ G-Sync monitor!

Markus

Asus just annonced a new monitor, yep, you read the title right, a ROG 27" 1440p 120hz+ G-Sync monitor!

ASUS_CES14-011_575px.jpg

The monitor also has 1ms response time and a 6mm bezel. But... its $799...

Edit: Quote from article; Looks like it's not IPS though, apparently really good for a TN panel

They announced a lot of other stuff too, but this is the one that took my interrest.

Not a fan of screens bigger than 24 inches, or TN panels.

#TooExpensive4me :(

It is expensive, no doubt, but the fact that it's 1440p, has the GSync module and has the RoG branding; it's not out of this world expensive.

Seems like a pretty awesome monitor if you're the type of person that really likes high refresh rate monitors

Not possible at that framerate, but they should have included VA :(

Damn, I got my hopes up thinking it was just a G-Sync version of my current montior: PB278Q.  Note that my monitor is PLS (IPS) with 2560x1440.

But alas, it seems that the PG278Q is not a PLS panel.  But on the upside it does have a higher resolution.  I am not sure how to balance the pros/cons yet, and find out on what side I end-up on.

EDIT: some sites are reporting 3820x2160, but the Asus keynote site itself reports 1440p.  If that's the case, then I will have to stick with my current PB278Q.

TN is fine people. Stop whining.

I own both. They both work great.

Do I have a preference? Nope.

99% chance that you will never buy it lol.

I was too hoping that then I would have got a second but at $800 I'd much rather stick it out with tearing and 60hz until an pls/ips comes out.

I will. Just hate the fact that they couldn't have taken the extra step and included VA on the damn thing...
