maybe try to get an upgrade to a core 2 quad, or lga 771 and some extra ram to get rid of that crappy core 2 duo.

Also I'd say you should grab something like a gtx 750 ti, gt 1030, gtx 1050, gtx 1050 ti, or from amd, rx 550, rx 560

The q9550  should pair well with a machine like that.

Also I would suggest overclocking using throttlestop as long as your temps are good, it will help a lot if you choose one of the higher performing cards on the list.

Here's a start on what looks like a good listing for a gpu

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PNY-NVIDIA-GEFORCE-GTX-1050-2GB/173597940476?hash=item286b3e5afc:g:ofAAAOSwGI9byo6L:rk:1:pf:0&LH_BIN=1

-Intel 2 core duo e6750 @ 2.66ghz
-XFX Geforce 9800 GT
-4 GB of Ram
-Motherboard Intel 0HN7XN
-BIOS Dell Inc. A07 6/13/2012

I need something as my 9800 gt broke and now I can't seem to find anything that would be good for the 2 core duo. Yeah I know it's a pretty outdated pc but whatever. Just looking to play a couple of games at low settings and resolution.

EDIT: I need a low profile or half height GPU

Welcome to the LTT forums! If you want to go used, I would recommend a GTX 550, 650, 650ti, 650 ti boost, 660, 750, 760, or 750 ti. (Sorry AMD peoples, I have not spent enough time researching low end Radeon device) If you want to go new I would recommend the GDDR5 GT 1030, or a RX 550.

Gotcha, then that limits you to the likes of the GTX 750, 750 ti, gt 1030, 1050, 1050 ti, RX 550, and 560.

So I got the 1030 gt before and I tested it out and it got hard bottlenecked by the processor, so I'm going to assume the same thing might happen to the 750 right?

get a 1030, its way better than 750.

or better get the 1050ti, it has low profile too.

Yes, the cpu will bottlenect the gpu, but put that in to rest right now.

You can upgrade your platform to a better one anytime you can.

But an upgrade from 9800 to 1050ti would be massive.

Or just plug the fastest cpu for that platform say Q9550.

Its cheap now, you can find one in ebay.

Get a 1030 and upgrade to a core2quad of some kind

c2Q would be under 20$ and worth it to balance out the CPU bottleneck with the 1030

you could go lower end, a low profile 730 would pair well, but the 1030 doesn't cost much more and performs a bit better even with the bottleneck at play

alsp maybe an r5 240/250

would 450 watts be good with gt1030 and core 2 quad?

Yes it'll be fine, though I would suggest a higher tier card such as the 1050 that I listed, especially since it isn't any more expensive than 1030's tend to be.

You can use the savings to get 8gb of ram and that'll be a great little cheap gaming machine.

Yes, if it was an option I would recommend the gtx 550 or 650, but at the moment there are many more lp GTX 750s , and 750 TIs in the wild, but do note as you are aiming for a low profile model, they do come at a price premium as there aren't usually that many available for sale.
