Asus introduce new B450 MB with upgraded VRM

Asus didn't seems to announced them publicly, but they have quietly introduced 3 "new" B450 motherboard: Strix B450-E (refresh over the B450-F) and TUF B450(M) Pro (over the B450(M) Plus):

The TUF board have a significantly larger VRM heatsink and both board appears to be at least running better quality chokes. The strix board have 12 chokes while both the TUF boards have 10. The Strix appears to be running either a 10+2 or 8+4 phase, but very unlikely (Because that would be a: expensive, b: making the Crosshair and X470 boards duplicated). Its more likely a 5 (x2 components)+2 phase which will be very good for B450 or a disappointing 4+2 (with twice the components). Meanwhile both the TUF boards have 10 chokes, but more likely a 4(2x components)+2 configuration.

 

Other additions includes a M.2 overheating shield for the Strix, Dual M.2 support for the TUF as well as DDR4 3533 OC support.

I will keep an eye if any new B450 boards shows up

Would it kill manufacturers to give some VRM specifications in the technical data sheet?

If that Strix board really is a 5(x2)+2, it could be veeeeery interesting for a future semi-upgrade.

 

Do you guys know of any youtubers other than Gamers Nexus and AHOC that check MoBo VRMs?

Too little too late, i bought an x470 Gigabyte aorus ultra gaming, and the main deciding factor was... you guessed it VRM was poor on all B boards and im looking to upgrade to 8 core 7nm+ in 2020 so yeah not good asus should have made these boards since the begining, anyway they will be more expensive than a x470 board so idc about them, just buy x470.

This is a weird situation: even if AMD meant well with the chipset you've got guys like Asus that go:

 

1) Ok components, B450

2) Ok components, X470

3) High quality components, B450

4) High quality components, X470

 

Except insert like 2 to 4 more permutations in between each numbers. I am all for choices but I think we can consolidate a little bit and include X470 if you're already going "premium" while still on B450.

Actually that'd be nice: it's difficult to find non-premium mitx boards for Ryzen at times and the other way around: its difficult to find high end matx boards as well it's usually the ATX boards that do have that variety but it is not across the board.

Tbh even mid ranged boards back in say Z77 or Z87 days had decent or better finnage/surface area on their heatsinks. And now it's just flat piece of metal with "carbon fibre" stickers on it, or like gamer edge slash cuts for style and maybe function. I'm fine with my R5 2600 and Crosshair VI Hero x470 that I got for $225, if anything if I needed to, I can always go to 8 core.
